REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
| CAUTION | When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery. |
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove door trim pad. Remove front door speaker. Remove front door weather shield. Remove front quarter seal retaining peg. (Scheme 1)
- Release the adhesive between seal and door panel. Remove front quarter channel-to-lower bracket securing bolts. Loosen but DO NOT fully remove bolt securing lower bracket to door.
- Remove the screws securing upper front quarter to door. Remove front door quarter/seal assembly.
- Using suitable tape, secure glass to door.Mark position of glass relative to carrier bracket securing bolts. Remove bolts securing door glass to front carrier. Remove upper bolt securing glass vertical guide channel to door.
- Remove lower guide channel securing bolt. Reposition channel for access to motor. Displace window lift motor harness multiplug from retaining clip. Disconnect harness multiplug. Remove motor stop adjuster lock nuts.
- Remove bolt securing outer-to-inner door skin spacer. Retrieve spacer. Remove bolts securing motor to door.
- Remove door pocket retaining bracket. Remove window lift motor assembly and place to front. Remove bolts securing regulator to motor. Remove motor. For installation, reverse removal procedure. Ensure door glass is returned to previously marked position.
| CAUTION | Before VIN 184117 vehicles were furnished with a 10 tooth motor and drive pinion. Current production motors are furnished only with 8 tooth motor regulator units. When replacing motor or regulator, ensure both are 8 tooth assemblies. Gear jump and damage will occur if mismatched gears are used. |
Scheme 1
Disconnect negative battery lead. Carefully displace window lift switchpack from console or arm rest. Disconnect harness multiplug from window lift switch. Remove switch from panel. For installation, reverse removal procedure.
