DESCRIPTION
The door windows are controlled by switches located on center console (XJS) or door armrests (XJ6). Pressing the rear portion of the switch will lower the window while pressing the front will raise the window. The switches will operate with the ignition in "I" or "II".
To protect the window lift motors, a thermal cut-out operates if the system is overloaded. If the cut-out is overheated it will require about 5 seconds to reset before system will operate. Switch must be released to enable cut-out to reset.
OPERATION
Power is supplied via auxiliary controlled load relay contacts from main battery supply through a thermal circuit breaker. The auxiliary controlled load relay is energized when ignition switch is closed and this energizes circuit to window lift motor.
When a control switch is operated to lower a window, current flows via contacts within switch to the motor (circuit to ground is also via the switch).
When switch is operated to raise the window, current flows in the opposite direction through the switch and motor.
