The 2.0, 2.5 and 3.0 liter 24 valve V6 engines have four overhead camshafts and are driven by two timing chains. All three engines incorporate electronic engine management with distributorless ignition system, sequential electronic fuel injection. All three have two catalytic converters in the exhaust system which includes two oxygen sensors and two catalytic monitor sensors.

Viewed from the rear of the engine, the right-hand cylinder bank is numbered 5,3,1 and the left-hand cylinder bank is numbered 6,4,2.

The engines include the following

  1. 10.75:1 compression ratio on the 2.0 liter engine.
  2. 10.3:1 Compression ratio on the 2.5 liter engine.
  3. 10.5:1 Compression ratio on the 3.0 liter engine.
  4. 3 Stage variable geometry intake manifold.
  5. Lightweight valve gear.
  6. Unique camshaft lift and duration.
  7. Single knock sensor engine management control.
  8. Continuous variable camshaft timing (VCT) system.
  9. Twin mass flywheel (manual transmission).
