ROTOR ASSEMBLY
- Measure diameter of slip rings. If slip ring diameter is less than 1.02" (26 mm), replace rotor. See «OVERHAUL»(ref-91530-S41435430402001032400000) . If slip ring diameter is within specification, go to next step.
- Using a DVOM, check rotor coil resistance between slip rings. If resistance is 3.75 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is not indicated, replace rotor. See «OVERHAUL»(ref-91530-S41435430402001032400000) .
- Using a DVOM, check continuity between slip ring and rotor core. If continuity is indicated, replace rotor. See «OVERHAUL»(ref-91530-S41435430402001032400000) . If continuity is not indicated, rotor is okay.
RECTIFIER (DIODE) ASSEMBLY
Using an ohmmeter, check continuity of diodes in both directions. (Scheme 6)- (Scheme 8). Continuity should be present in one direction only. If there is continuity in both directions, diode is shorted. If there is no continuity in either direction, diode is open. If any diode is defective, replace entire rectifier assembly. See OVERHAUL.

OVERHAUL
When assembling front and rear sections, insert a stiff wire into hole in rear cover to hold brushes in raised position. Use exploded view for overhaul reference. (Scheme 9)- (Scheme 11). Ensure brushes are not worn beyond limit line, or measure brush length. See STANDARD & MINIMUM BRUSH LENGTH table. If brush length is less than specified, replace brush and brush holder.
