MALFUNCTION INDICATOR

The IC regulator warning function activates to illuminate "CHARGE" warning lamp, if excessive voltage is produced or no voltage is produced while generator is operating.

No Charging Voltage Or Diode Ripple Not Detected

  1. Is charging lamp on with the ignition switch in the ON position? If yes, then go to next step. If no, then go to «DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE 1»(ref-166067-S23352882132004091000000) under ON-VEHICLE TESTING. Repair if needed and if okay, then replace generator.
  2. Is charging lamp on with engine running at idle? If yes, then go to next step. If no, then go to «DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE 2»(ref-166067-S17476601912004091000000) under ON-VEHICLE TESTING. Repair if needed and if okay, then replace generator.
  3. Is charging lamp on with engine running at 3000 RPM? If yes, then go to next step. If no, then go to «DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE 3»(ref-166067-S05111871572004091000000) under ON-VEHICLE TESTING. If needed repair and if okay then replace the generator.
  4. Check generator drive belt tension. Repair if needed and if okay then replace the generator.

Low Charging Voltage

  1. Go to «DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE 4»(ref-166067-S03240149312004091300000) under ON-VEHICLE TESTING. Repair as needed and okay then go to next step.
  2. Check generator drive belt tension. Repair as needed and if okay then replace generator.

High Charge Voltage

Go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE 5 under ON-VEHICLE TESTING. Repair as needed and if okay then replace generator.
