Driver's Window Motor Test

Remove door panel. Unplug 4-pin connector from motor. Using jumper wires, connect terminals No. 1 and 2 to battery voltage and ground. (Scheme 1) Check for motor operation. Reverse jumper wires and retest. Replace motor if it does not operate in both directions.

Passenger's Window Motor Test

Remove door panel. Unplug 2-pin connector from motor. Using jumper wires, connect connector terminals No. 1 and 2 to battery voltage and ground. (Scheme 1) Check for motor operation. Reverse jumper wires and retest. Replace motor if it does not operate in both directions.

PULSER TEST (DRIVER'S WINDOW MOTOR)

Note. Pulser is integral part of driver's window motor assembly. If pulser is defective, motor assembly must be replaced.

Connect test leads of analog ohmmeter to motor connector terminals No. 3 and 4. Using jumper wires, connect terminals No. 1 and 2 to battery voltage and ground. (Scheme 1) If ohmmeter needle does not move back and forth while motor is operating, replace motor.

SWITCH TEST

Note. Master power window switch function is combined with the multiplex communication system. Switch cannot be isolated for testing. Perform control unit input tests. See appropriate MULTIPLEX CONTROL UNIT INPUT TESTS under SYSTEM TESTS.

Note. Driver's power window switch on Accord and Prelude is combined with the power window control unit. Switch cannot be isolated for testing. Perform appropriate switch input test. See SWITCH INPUT TESTS.

Passenger's Window Switch Test

Remove passenger's power window switch. See PASSENGER POWER WINDOW SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using an ohmmeter, check resistance of switch terminals with switch in indicated positions. (Scheme 2) If continuity is not as specified, replace switch. See PASSENGER'S POWER WINDOW SWITCH TEST table. See WIRING DIAGRAMS.

Driver's Control Unit Input Test

Remove underdash fuse/relay box. Remove driver's unit from underdash fuse/relay box. Inspect connector terminals for damage or corrosion. Repair or replace as necessary. Using a DVOM, perform driver's control unit input test. (Scheme 3)or (Scheme 4). If all input tests are okay, replace driver's multiplex control unit.

Door Control Unit Input Test

Remove driver's door trim panel. Disconnect 20-pin harness connector. Inspect connector terminals for damage or corrosion. Repair or replace as necessary. Using a DVOM, perform driver's control unit input test. (Scheme 5)or (Scheme 6). If all input tests are okay, replace door multiplex control unit.

TROUBLE SHOOTING

WARNINGDeactivate air bag system before performing any service operation. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS articles below, or in the ACCESSORIES/SAFETY EQUIPMENT section. DO NOT apply electrical power to any component on steering column without first deactivating air bag system. Air bag may deploy.
  1. For Accord, see «AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS»(ref-10336) article.
  2. For Prelude, see «AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS»(ref-10340) article.

Note. Ensure all component terminals and ground connections are clean and tight. Check possible faults in order listed. Repair or replace components and circuits as necessary.

Note. Some wires have been assigned a superscript to distinguish them from other wires of the same color. For example, Yellow/Green(1) wire is not the same as Yellow/Green (2) wire.

Note. Accord information is not available at time of publication.
