Oasis & Odyssey

Under normal driving conditions, change fluid at 30,000 mile intervals.

All Other Models

  1. Raise and support vehicle. Remove transaxle drain plug. Disconnect transaxle cooler hoses at cooler pipes.
  2. Remove right front motor mount bracket. Remove transaxle cooler inlet bracket bolt. Remove transaxle cooler outlet pipe.
  3. Remove transaxle pan bolts and pan. Remove cooler inlet pipe from transaxle pan. Remove strainer bolts and strainer. Clean or replace filter and strainer as necessary.
  4. Replace "O" rings, pan gasket and drain plug sealing washer. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten pan bolts to 104 INCH lbs. (12 N.m).

Except Oasis & Odyssey

Gear range switch is located at bottom of shift lever, under center console. Ensure selector lever linkage is properly adjusted and vehicle starts only with shift lever in Park or Neutral. If vehicle starts in other gear positions, loosen 2 range switch mounting screws and adjust switch.

Gear range switch is located on transaxle. Remove cover and gear range switch. Place switch in Neutral (switch will click in Neutral). Ensure transaxle is in Neutral. Install switch and tighten switch bolts to 104 INCH Lbs. (12 N.m). Install cover.

Prelude

  1. Shift gear selector into "R" position. Remove center console. Remove lock nut from shift cable mounting bolt. (Scheme 100) Separate shift cable end from shift lever assembly. DO NOT pull on shift cable guide pipe.
  2. Push shift cable forward until it stops. Pull cable back one step. Turn ignition on. Ensure "R" indicator light is on. Insert a.24" (6.0 mm) pin into positioning hole in shift lever assembly. (Scheme 101)

Except Prelude

  1. On CR-V, Oasis and Odyssey, remove access cover from lower steering column cover. On Accord, Civic and Civic Del Sol, remove center console. On all models, move gear selector into "N" position. Remove lock pin from cable adjuster. Align hole in adjuster with hole in shift cable. (Scheme 102)
  2. The 2 holes in end of shift cable are positioned at 90 degrees to allow cable adjustments in 1/4 turn increments. Loosen lock nut on shift cable, and adjust if necessary. Tighten lock nut. Install lock pin.
  3. Lock pin should not bind as it is installed. If lock pin binds, cable is still out of adjustment. Repeat adjustment procedure. Start engine, and check shift lever selection of all gears.
