Scheme 153: Special Tools Required
  1. Disconnect the primary HO2S 4P connector (A), then remove the primary HO2S (B).
  2. Install the primary HO2S in the reverse order of removal.

O2 sensor wrench, Snap-on YA8875, SP Tools 93750, or equivalent, commercially available.

  1. Disconnect the secondary HO2S 4P connector (A), then remove the secondary HO2S (B).
  2. Install the secondary HO2S in the reverse order of removal.

Scheme 155: ECT Sensor Replacement
  1. Remove the intake manifold cover (see «INTAKE MANIFOLD REMOVAL & INSTALLATION»(ref-173990-S36628467322005041500000) ).
  2. Disconnect the ECT sensor 2P connector.
  3. Remove the ECT sensor (A).
  4. Install the sensor in the reverse order of removal with a new O-ring (B).

Scheme 156: IAT Sensor Replacement
  1. Remove the intake manifold cover (see «INTAKE MANIFOLD REMOVAL & INSTALLATION»(ref-173990-S36628467322005041500000) ).
  2. Disconnect the IAT sensor 2P connector.
  3. Remove the IAT sensor (A).
  4. Install the sensor in the reverse order of removal with a new O-ring (B).

  1. Set the No. 1 piston at top dead center (TDC) (see «TIMING BELT REMOVAL»(ref-173990-S32272518662005041500000) ).
  2. Remove the upper and lower cover (see step 11 on «TIMING BELT REMOVAL»(ref-173990-S32272518662005041500000) ).
  3. To hold the timing belt adjuster in its current position, thread in the battery clamp bolt hand-tight (see step 14 on «TIMING BELT REMOVAL»(ref-173990-S32272518662005041500000) ).
  4. Remove the idler pulley bolt and the idler pulley, then remove the timing belt (see step 16 on «TIMING BELT REMOVAL»(ref-173990-S32272518662005041500000) ).
  5. Remove the front camshaft pulley (A).
  6. Disconnect the CMP sensor connector, then remove the back cover (A).
  7. Remove the CMP sensor (A) from the back cover.
  8. Install the sensor in reverse order of removal. Reinstall the timing belt (see «TIMING BELT INSTALLATION»(ref-173990-S11684977822005041500000) ) and other removed parts.

  1. Remove the alternator-compressor belt (see «ALTERNATOR BELT»(ref-162803-S39684717322004061000000) ).
  2. Loosen the adjusting nut, locknut, and mounting bolt, then remove the power steering (P/S) pump belt (see step 6 on «TIMING BELT REMOVAL»(ref-173990-S32272518662005041500000) ).
  3. Remove the dipstick and tube (see step 9 on «TIMING BELT REMOVAL»(ref-173990-S32272518662005041500000) ).
  4. Remove the crankshaft pulley (see «CRANKSHAFT PULLEY REMOVAL & INSTALLATION»(ref-173990-S28766526452005041500000) ).
  5. Remove the upper and lower cover (see step 11 on «TIMING BELT REMOVAL»(ref-173990-S32272518662005041500000) ).
  6. Remove the CKP sensor (A) from the oil pump.
  7. Install the sensor in the reverse order of removal.

  1. Remove the intake manifold (see «INTAKE MANIFOLD REMOVAL & INSTALLATION»(ref-173990-S36628467322005041500000) ).
  2. Disconnect the knock sensor connector, then remove the knock sensor (A).
  3. Install the sensor in the reverse order of removal.
