- Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
- Check the MAP with the scan tool or the HDS. Is about 101 kPa (760 mmHg, 30 in.Hg), or 2.9 V indicated? YES: Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the MAP sensor and the PCM. NO: Go to step 3.
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect the MAP sensor 3P connector.
- Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
- Measure voltage between MAP sensor 3P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2. Is there about 5 V? YES: Go to step 8 . NO: Go to step 7.
- Measure voltage between PCM connector terminals C19 and C7. Is there about 5 V? YES: Repair open in the wire between the PCM (C19) and the MAP sensor. NO: Substitute a known-good PCM and recheck (see «HOW TO SUBSTITUTE THE PCM FOR TESTING PURPOSE»(ref-171136-S22224174352005011100000) ). If normal MAP readings are indicated, replace the original PCM.
- Check the MAP with the scan tool or the HDS. Is about 2 kPa (15 mmHg, 0.6 in.Hg), 0.5 V or less indicated? YES: Go to step 9. NO: Replace the MAP sensor.
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect PCM connector C (31P).
- Check for continuity between MAP sensor connector terminal No. 3 and body ground. Is there continuity? YES: Repair short in the wire between the PCM (C17) and the MAP sensor. NO: Substitute a known-good PCM and recheck (see «HOW TO SUBSTITUTE THE PCM FOR TESTING PURPOSE»(ref-171136-S22224174352005011100000) ). If normal MAP readings are indicated, replace the original PCM.

If normal MAP readings are indicated, replace the original PCM.

- Check the MAP with the scan tool or the HDS. Is more than 101 kPa (780 mmHg, 30 in.Hg), or more than 2.9 V indicated? YES: Go to step 3. NO: Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the MAP sensor and the PCM

DLC Circuit Troubleshooting
Note. If the PCM does not communicate with the HDS, do this troubleshooting. Check that the MIL circuit is normal, then do this troubleshooting.

- Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
- Measure voltage between data link connector (DLC) terminal No. 16 and body ground. Is there battery voltage? YES: Go to step 3. NO: Repair open in the wire between DLC terminal No. 16 and the ACGS (15A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box.
- Measure voltage between DLC terminal No. 4 and No. 16. Is there battery voltage? YES: Go to step 4. NO: Repair open in the wire between DLC terminal No. 4 and G501.
- Measure voltage between DLC terminals No. 5 and No. 16. Is there battery voltage? YES: Go to step 5. NO: Repair open in the wire between DLC terminal No. 5 and G101.
- Measure voltage between DLC terminals No. 5 and No. 7. Is there 8.5 V or more? YES: Go to step 10 . NO: Go to step 6.
- Turn the ignition switch off.
- Disconnect PCM connector A (32P).
- Check for continuity between DLC terminal No. 7 and body ground. Is there continuity? YES: Repair short to ground in the wire between DLC terminal No. 7 and the PCM (A21). NO: Go to step 9.
- Check for continuity between DLC terminal No. 7 and PCM terminal A21. Is there continuity? YES: Substitute a known-good PCM and recheck (see «HOW TO SUBSTITUTE THE PCM FOR TESTING PURPOSE»(ref-171136-S22224174352005011100000) ). If the symptom/indication goes away with a known-good PCM, replace the original PCM. NO: Repair open in the wire between DLC terminal No. 7 and the PCM (A21).
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect PCM connector A (32P).
- Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
- Measure voltage between DLC terminals No. 5 and No. 7. Is there 0 V? YES: Substitute a known-good PCM and recheck (see «HOW TO SUBSTITUTE THE PCM FOR TESTING PURPOSE»(ref-171136-S22224174352005011100000) ). If the symptom/indication goes away with a known-good PCM, replace the original PCM. NO: Repair short to power in the wire between DLC terminal No. 7 and PCM (A21).

- Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
- Measure voltage between data link connector (DLC) terminal No. 16 and body ground. Is there battery voltage? YES: Go to step 3. NO: Repair open in the wire between DLC terminal No. 16 and the ACGS (15A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box.
- Measure voltage between DLC terminals No. 4 and No. 16. Is there battery voltage? YES: Go to step 4. NO: Repair open in the wire between DLC terminal No. 4 and G501.
- Measure voltage between DLC terminals No. 5 and No. 16. Is there battery voltage? YES: Go to step 5. NO: Repair open in the wire between DLC terminal No. 5 and G101.
- Measure voltage between DLC terminals No. 5 and No. 7. Is there 8.5 V or more? YES: Go to step 10 . NO: Go to step 6.
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect PCM connector E (31P).
- Check for continuity between DLC terminal No. 7 and body ground. Is there continuity? YES: Repair short to ground in the wire between DLC terminal No. 7 and the PCM (E27). NO: Go to step 9.
- Check for continuity between DLC terminal No. 7 and PCM terminal E27. Is there continuity? YES: Substitute a known-good PCM and recheck (see «HOW TO SUBSTITUTE THE PCM FOR TESTING PURPOSE»(ref-171136-S22224174352005011100000) ). If the symptom/indication goes away with a known-good PCM, replace the original PCM. NO: Repair open in the wire between DLC terminal No. 7 and the PCM (E27).
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect PCM connector E (31P).
- Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
- Measure voltage between DLC terminals No. 5 and No. 7. Is there O V? YES: Substitute a known-good PCM and recheck (see «HOW TO SUBSTITUTE THE PCM FOR TESTING PURPOSE»(ref-171136-S22224174352005011100000) ). If the symptom/indication goes away with a known-good PCM, replace the original PCM. NO: Repair short to power in the wire between DLC terminal No. 7 and PCM (E27).

- Relieve the fuel pressure (see «FUEL PRESSURE RELIEVING»(ref-170538-S19161017922005011000000) ).
- Remove the intake manifold covers and the intake manifold (see Intake Manifold Removal and Installation ).
- Disconnect the connectors from the injectors (A).
- Disconnect the vacuum hose and fuel return hose from the fuel pressure regulator (B). Place a rag or a shop towel over the hoses before disconnecting them.
- Remove the bolts (C) from the fuel rail (D).
- Remove the fuel rail.
- Remove the injectors from the fuel rails.
- Slide new cushion rings (A) onto the fuel injectors (B).
- Coat the new O-rings (C) with clean engine oil, and put them on the injectors.
- Insert the injectors into the fuel rail (D).
- Coat new seal rings (E) with clean engine oil, and press them into the intake manifold.
- Install the fuel rail in the intake manifold.
- Install and tighten the bolts.
- Connect the vacuum hose and fuel return hose to the fuel pressure regulator.
- Install the connectors on the injectors.
- Install the intake manifold and the intake manifold cover (see Intake Manifold Removal and Installation ).
- Turn the ignition switch ON (II), but do not operate the starter. After the fuel pump runs for about 2 seconds, the fuel pressure in the fuel line rises. Repeat this two or three times, then check for fuel leakage.

- Relieve the fuel pressure (see «FUEL PRESSURE RELIEVING»(ref-170538-S19161017922005011000000) ).
- Remove the intake manifold covers and the intake manifold (see Intake Manifold Removal and Installation ).
- Disconnect the connectors from the injectors (A).
- Remove the retainer bolts (B) from the fuel rails (C) and harness holders (D), then discard the O-rings (E).
- Disconnect the fuel rails.
- Remove the injectors from the fuel rails.
- Slide new cushion rings (A) onto the injectors (B).
- Coat new O-rings (C) with clean engine oil, and put them on the injectors.
- Insert the injectors into the fuel rails (D).
- Coat new seal rings (E) with clean engine oil, and press them into the intake manifold.
- Install the fuel injectors and fuel rails into the intake manifold.
- Install and tighten the retainer bolts.
- Install the connectors on the injectors.
- Install the intake manifold and the intake manifold covers (see Intake Manifold Removal and Installation ).
- Turn the ignition switch ON (II), but do not operate the starter. After the fuel pump runs for approximately 2 seconds, the fuel pressure in the fuel line rises. Repeat this two or three times, then check for fuel leakage.
