A multi-function control unit located under the left side of the dashboard, integrates the functions of brake warning bulb check circuit (brake warning light), seat belt and key on warning, side marker light flasher and intermittent wiper relay circuit onto one circuit board, sharing common circuit functions.
Note. Several different wires have the same color. They have been given a number suffix to distinguish them (for example GRN/RED 1 and GRN/RED 2 are not the same).
Description
The brake warning light goes on if the parking brake is applied, if the brake fluid is low, and as a circuit test while cranking the engine.
Turn Signal Operation
With the ignition switch in RUN or START, voltage is applied to the coils and contacts of the turn signal/hazard relay. The contacts close and voltage is applied to the turn signal switch. When the switch is moved to LEFT, a left turn input is received by the integrated control unit. The integrated control unit causes the left front side marker light to flash. The right front side marker light operates the same way.
With the headlight switch in OFF, the front side marker lights flash in unison with the front and rear turn signal lights.
With the headlight switch in HEAD or PARK, the front side marker lights and the turn signal lights flash alternately.
Hazard Flasher Operation
With the hazard switch on, voltage is always applied to the turn signal/hazard relay coil and contacts. The contacts close and voltage is applied to all the turn signal lights, indicators, and integrated control unit. The integrated control unit senses the left and right hazard inputs and causes all the turn signal lights and indicators to flash.
