JACKING & HOISTING

Note. For all wheel alignment adjustments and information on Passport, refer to Isuzu Rodeo in WHEEL ALIGNMENT - SPECIFICATIONS & PROCEDURES article in ISUZU.

Note. Prior to performing wheel alignment, perform preliminary visual and mechanical inspection of wheels, tires and suspension components. See PRE-ALIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS in WHEEL ALIGNMENT THEORY & OPERATION article in GENERAL INFORMATION.

FLOOR JACK

  1. Set parking brake. Block wheels that are not going to be lifted. When lifting rear of vehicle, place transmission in Reverse (M/T) or Park (A/T). (Scheme 10)
  2. Place floor jack lift platform under lift bracket to raise vehicle. (Scheme 4)- (Scheme 9). Front lift bracket is located under vehicle, on cross/center beam. Rear lift bracket is located under center of vehicle, left of muffler. Place safety stands on reinforced support points of side body panels (between front and rear wheels).

EMERGENCY JACKING

Place manufacturer-supplied jack on reinforced support points of side body panels (between front and rear wheels). (Scheme 10)

HOIST

WARNINGWhen removing heavy rear components such as suspension, fuel tank, spare tire or tailgate, vehicle center of gravity may change and cause vehicle to tip forward on hoist.
  1. On all models except Accord, when removing heavy rear components such as suspension, fuel tank, spare tire or tailgate, place additional weight in trunk of vehicle before hoisting. Placing front wheel/tire assembly in cargo area can assist with weight distribution. On Accord, when removing heavy rear components such as suspension, fuel tank or spare tire, place tall safety stands under front of vehicle after hoisting.
  2. Place lift blocks on reinforced support points of side body panels (between front and rear wheels). (Scheme 10) These are same points as used with manufacturer-supplied jack. Lift hoist a few inches and rock vehicle to ensure vehicle is firmly supported. Completely lift vehicle and check for proper vehicle support.

Odyssey

Note. Front camber can be adjusted by exchanging one or both damper pinch bolts with a smaller diameter adjusting bolt (90120-S0X-A00). The difference between adjusting bolt diameter and pinch bolt hole diameter only allows for a small range of adjustment.

  1. Compare camber settings with vehicle manufacturer recommendations. See «WHEEL ALIGNMENT SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-5186-S01473847692000080900000). If camber is incorrect, raise and support front of vehicle. Remove front wheels. Loosen and adjust 2 flange nuts by moving bottom of damper within range of damper pinch bolt free play. (Scheme 11) Tighten flange nuts to specifications and go to next step. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-5186-S23723220162000080900000).
  2. Install front wheels and lower front of vehicle. Bounce front of vehicle several times to stabilize suspension, measure camber. If measurement is within specification, measure toe-in. See «TOE-IN ADJUSTMENT»(ref-5186-S34167528402000080900000). If camber is still incorrect, go to next step.
  3. Raise and support front of vehicle. Remove front wheels. Replace damper pinch bolts with adjusting bolts and adjust camber angle to specifications. Tighten flange nuts to specifications and repeat step 2. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-5186-S23723220162000080900000). If camber is still incorrect, repeat step 2) until measurement is within manufacturer specifications.

S2000 (Front)

Compare camber settings with vehicle manufacturer recommendations. See WHEEL ALIGNMENT SPECIFICATIONS. If camber is incorrect, check for bent or damaged suspension components. Replace faulty components. Recheck camber. If camber is still incorrect, hold adjusting bolt on front lower arm and loosen self-locking nut. Turn adjusting bolt until camber is correct. (Scheme 12) After adjusting, tighten self-locking nut while holding adjusting bolt. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS.

S2000 (Rear)

Compare camber settings with vehicle manufacturer recommendations. See WHEEL ALIGNMENT SPECIFICATIONS. If camber is incorrect, check for bent or damaged suspension components. Replace faulty components. Recheck camber. If camber is still incorrect, hold adjusting bolt on control arm and loosen self-locking nut. Turn adjusting bolt until camber is correct. (Scheme 13) After adjusting, tighten self-locking nut while holding adjusting bolt.

Civic, Odyssey & CR-V

Compare caster settings with vehicle manufacturer recommendations. See WHEEL ALIGNMENT SPECIFICATIONS . If caster is incorrect, check for bent or damaged front suspension components. Replace faulty components. Recheck caster.

Prelude With ATTS

  1. If caster needs adjustment, raise front of vehicle and support it using safety stands. Remove radius rod nut and radius rod bolt from steering knuckle and frame.
  2. Remove radius rod and install appropriate length radius rod needed to adjust caster. If excessive gap between measured angle and specification exists, check for bent sub-frame or steering knuckle. Radius rod is available in 3 sizes and is identified by color and specific marking, located at center of radius rod.
  3. A .098" (2.5 mm) radius rod is identified by a plus mark (+) and is Blue. A standard radius rod is identified by a punch mark () and is Orange. A -098" (-2.5 mm) radius rod is identified by a minus mark (-) and is White. Use appropriate rod to adjust caster to specification.

S2000

If caster needs adjustment, raise and support front of vehicle. Hold flange bolt on rear of lower arm and loosen self-locking nut. Turn adjusting cam collar until caster is correct. (Scheme 14) After adjusting, tighten self-locking nut while holding flange bolt. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS.

Accord, Odyssey, S2000 & Prelude (Except Prelude With ATTS)

Note. On S2000 models, adjust rear toe by moving upper and lower control arms the same amount in opposite directions. Example: upper control arm is moved out, move lower control arm in.

  1. Check caster and camber. See «WHEEL ALIGNMENT SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-5186-S01473847692000080900000). Adjust if necessary. Secure steering wheel in straight-ahead position. Ensure parking brake is released. Check rear wheel toe-in. If rear toe-in needs adjustment, hold adjusting bolt on rear lower control arm and loosen lock nut. Adjust rear toe-in by turning adjusting eccentric bolt until toe-in is correct. Install lock nut, and tighten it while holding adjusting bolt. (Scheme 15)- (Scheme 17).   2. Measure front wheel toe-in. See «WHEEL ALIGNMENT SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-5186-S01473847692000080900000). If adjustment is needed, loosen tie rod lock nuts. Turn both tie rods equally in same direction until front wheels are in straight-ahead position and toe-in reading is correct. Tighten tie rod lock nuts. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-5186-S23723220162000080900000). Reposition tie rod boots if they are twisted.

Civic & CR-V

  1. Secure steering wheel in straight-ahead position. Measure front wheel toe-in. See «WHEEL ALIGNMENT SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-5186-S01473847692000080900000). If adjustment is needed, loosen tie rod lock nuts. Turn both tie rods equally in the same direction until front wheels are in straight-ahead position and toe-in reading is correct. Tighten tie rod lock nuts. Reposition tie rod boots if twisted.
  2. Ensure parking brake is released. Check rear wheel toe-in. If adjustment is needed, hold adjusting bolt on rear compensator arm and loosen lock nut. (Scheme 18) Adjust rear toe-in by sliding rear control arm until rear toe-in is correct. Install NEW lock nut, and tighten it while holding adjusting bolt.

Note. Preludes equipped with Active Torque Transfer System (ATTS) require reprogramming of ATTS control unit for steering angle sensor neutral position, after toe-in adjustment is performed on front wheels. See appropriate article in TRANSMISSION section.

  1. Check caster and camber. See «WHEEL ALIGNMENT SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-5186-S01473847692000080900000). Adjust if necessary. Set steering angle sensor in neutral position (steering wheel in straight-ahead position). Secure steering wheel in straight-ahead position. Connect SCS Service Connector (07PAZ-0010100) or fused jumper wire between 2-pin service check connector.
  2. Connector is located behind right front of center console. Active Torque Transfer System (ATTS) indicator should illuminate. Maintain this condition during inspection and adjustment of toe-in.
  3. Ensure parking brake is released. Measure rear wheel toe-in. See «WHEEL ALIGNMENT SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-5186-S01473847692000080900000). If rear toe-in needs adjustment, hold adjusting bolt on rear lower control arm and loosen lock nut. Adjust rear toe-in by turning off-set adjusting eccentric bolt until toe-in is correct. Install lock nut, and tighten it while holding adjusting bolt. (Scheme 15) See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-5186-S23723220162000080900000).
  4. Measure front wheel toe-in. See «WHEEL ALIGNMENT SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-5186-S01473847692000080900000). If adjustment is needed, loosen tie rod lock nuts. Turn both tie rods equally in same direction until front wheels are in straight-ahead position and toe-in reading is correct. Tighten tie rod lock nuts. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-5186-S23723220162000080900000). Reposition tie rod boots if they are twisted. Remove SCS Service Connector (07PAZ-0010100) or fused jumper wire.
