Removal (2.3L)

  1. Ensure you have the anti-theft code for the radio. Write down the frequencies for the radio's preset buttons.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Disconnect the positive cable.
  3. Disconnect the 4-pin connector "A" and Black wire "B" from the alternator. (Scheme 13)
  4. Remove the adjusting bolt "A", locknut "B", and mounting bolt "C". Remove the alternator belt and alternator. (Scheme 14)

Installation

  1. Install in the reverse order of removal.
  2. Adjust the alternator belt tension or the alternator A/C belt tension. See «ALTERNATOR BELT»(ref-138691-S11055377842004060200000) and «ALTERNATOR A/C COMPRESSOR BELT»(ref-138691-S13726852122004060200000) under ADJUSTMENT.
  3. Enter the anti-theft code for the radio. Enter the customer's radio station presets.

Removal (3.0L)

  1. Ensure you have the anti-theft code for the radio. Write down the frequencies for the radio's preset buttons.
  2. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Disconnect the positive cable.
  3. Move the auto-tensioner "A" to relieve tension from the alternator belt "B", and remove the alternator belt. (Scheme 15)
  4. Disconnect the condenser fan motor connector "A" from the condenser fan shroud. (Scheme 16)
  5. Remove the condenser fan/shroud assembly "B".
  6. Disconnect the 4-pin connector "A" and Black wire "B" from the alternator. (Scheme 17)
  7. Remove the mount bolt "A" and alternator bracket mounting bolt "B". Remove the harness clamp "C" from the alternator bracket. (Scheme 18)

  1. Install in the reverse order of removal.
  2. Enter the anti-theft code for the radio. Enter the customer's radio station presets.
