Forward Flushing Setup

  1. Install both J 45268-9 (2) onto the J 45268-10 (3).
  2. Install the J 45268-7 (4) onto the suction side of the J 45268-10 (3).
  3. Install the J 45268-8 (1) onto the discharge side of the J 45268-10 (3).

Reverse Flushing Setup

  1. Install both J 45268-9 (2) onto the J 45268-10 (3).
  2. Install the J 45268-8 (1) onto the suction side of the J 45268-10 (3).
  3. Install the J 45268-7 (4) onto the discharge side of the J 45268-10 (3).

Flush Procedure

  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to «Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging»(ref-651014-S06911667582014081900000) .
  2. Remove the TXV. Refer to «Air Conditioning Evaporator Thermal Expansion Valve Replacement»(ref-651014-S15117846782014081900000) .
  3. Install the stud onto the J 45268-115.
  4. Install new sealing washers onto the evaporator core. Refer to «Air Conditioning System Seal Replacement»(ref-651014-S07405085332014081900000) .
  5. Install J 45268-115 in place of the TXV.
  6. Install TXV mounting bolts and tighten to 7.5 (66 lb in).
  7. Install new sealing washers onto the air conditioning evaporator tube. Refer to «Air Conditioning System Seal Replacement»(ref-651014-S07405085332014081900000) .
  8. Connect the air conditioning evaporator tube to the J 45268-115.
  9. Install the air conditioning evaporator thermal expansion valve hose nut and tighten to 22 (16 lb ft).
  10. Remove the air conditioning compressor. Refer to «Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (LV3)»(ref-651014-S12955681432014081900000) , «Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (L83)»(ref-651014-S30971541712014081900000) .
  11. Service the filter with ACDelco P/N GF 470, before each flush.
  12. Install the J 45268-10 to the air conditioning compressor and condenser hose.
  13. Connect the J 45268-1 flush filter to the J 45268-7 flush adapter.
  14. Connect the blue hose from the J 43600 ACR 2000 Air Conditioning Service Center to J 45268-1 flush filter adapter.
  15. Connect the red hose from the J 43600 ACR 2000 Air Conditioning Service Center to J 45268-8 flush adapter.
  16. Flush the A/C system. Follow the instructions supplied with the J 43600 ACR 2000 Air Conditioning Service Center.
  17. Disconnect the red hose from the J 43600 ACR 2000 Air Conditioning Service Center to J 45268-8 flush adapter.
  18. Disconnect the blue hose from the J 43600 ACR 2000 Air Conditioning Service Center to J 45268-1 flush filter adapter.
  19. Disconnect the J 45268-1 flush filter from the J 45268-10 flush adapter.
  20. Remove the J 45268-10 from the air conditioning compressor and condenser hose.
  21. If you will reinstall the removed A/C compressor, perform the following procedure: Drain the PAG oil from the A/C compressor. Rotate the compressor input shaft to assist in draining the PAG oil from the compressor. Add the total system capacity of PAG oil to the crankcase of the A/C compressor. Refer to «Refrigerant System Specifications»(ref-651014-S07680388272014081900000) . NOTE: Flushing will remove the fluorescent leak detection dye from the A/C system. Add one bottle of J 41447 R-134A A/C Tracer Dye - Box of 24 directly to the A/C compressor.
  22. Install the A/C compressor. Refer to «Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (LV3)»(ref-651014-S12955681432014081900000) , «Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (L83)»(ref-651014-S30971541712014081900000) .
  23. Remove the TXV block fitting nut.
  24. Disconnect the air conditioning evaporator tube from the J 45268-115.
  25. Remove the TXV mounting bolts retaining the J 45268-115.
  26. Remove the J 45268-115.
  27. Inspect the TXV for debris. Clean or replace as needed.
  28. Install the TXV. Refer to «Air Conditioning Evaporator Thermal Expansion Valve Replacement»(ref-651014-S15117846782014081900000) .
  29. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to «Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging»(ref-651014-S06911667582014081900000) .
  30. Leak test the fittings using J 42220 Universal 12V Leak Detection Lamp.

Draining Procedure

  1. Remove the A/C compressor from the vehicle. Refer to «Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (LV3)»(ref-651014-S12955681432014081900000) , «Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (L83)»(ref-651014-S30971541712014081900000) .
  2. Record the amount of oil removed from the refrigerant system during refrigerant recovery. This measurement will be used during installation of the replacement compressor.
  3. Drain the oil from both the suction and discharge ports of the removed compressor into a clean, graduated container.
  4. Measure and record the amount of oil drained from the removed compressor. This measurement will be used during installation of the replacement compressor.
  5. Inspect oil drained from the removed compressor. Refer to «Air Conditioning Compressor Oil Diagnosis»(ref-651014-S32766955862014081900000) .
  6. Properly discard the used PAG refrigerant oil.

Balancing Procedure (Flushing Required Only)

  1. Flush the A/C system. Flushing will remove all the oil from the A/C system. Refer to «Flushing»(ref-651014-S42649624392014081900000) .
  2. Remove the A/C compressor from the vehicle. Refer to «Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (LV3)»(ref-651014-S12955681432014081900000) , «Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (L83)»(ref-651014-S30971541712014081900000) .
  3. Drain the oil from both the suction and discharge ports of the removed compressor into a clean, graduated container.
  4. Add the total system capacity of PAG oil 100 ml (3.4 oz) to the A/C system by filling the A/C compressor or by filling the A/C system using J 45037 injector

3Air Conditioning Compressor Procedure Disconnect electrical connector from the air conditioning (A/C) clutch coil. Remove and discard old sealing washers and replace with NEW sealing washers. Refer to Air Conditioning System Seal Replacement . When replacing the air conditioning compressor, balance compressor oil. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Oil Balancing .

Preliminary Procedure Remove the air conditioning compressor belt. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Belt Replacement . Remove the air conditioning compressor if necessary. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (LV3) , Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (L83) . Disconnect the electrical connector from the air conditioning compressor.

2Air Conditioning Clutch Drive Plate Procedure Measure and adjust the air conditioning compressor clutch drive plate per specification. Refer to Air Conditioning Clutch Drive Plate Adjustment .

4Air Conditioning Compressor Clutch Pulley Snap Ring Procedure Ensure the clutch pulley snap ring is installed with the flat side toward the air compressor. Note the rounded off portion of the snap ring per illustration, will be on the right side upon proper installation.
