SYSTEM TESTS
| CAUTION | To prevent damage to terminals, Connector Test Adaptor Kit (J-35616-A) must be used whenever a diagnostic procedure requires checking or probing terminals. |
Note. To aid in circuit identification and component location, see appropriate wiring diagram under WIRING DIAGRAMS
BOTH POWER MIRRORS INOPERATIVE
- Using test light, backprobe between power mirror switch harness connector terminal "G" (Orange wire) and ground. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, repair open in Orange wire between power mirror switch and fuse block.
- Using test light, backprobe between power mirror switch harness connector terminals "G" (Orange wire) and "B" (Black wire). If test light illuminates, check for poor connection at power mirror switch. If connection is okay, replace power mirror switch. If test light does not illuminate, repair open or poor connection in Black wire between power mirror switch and ground.
LEFT-SIDE POWER MIRROR INOPERATIVE IN LEFT/RIGHT POSITIONS
- Using test light, backprobe between power mirror switch harness connector terminals "F" (White wire) and "D" (Yellow wire). Move power mirror switch to LEFT and RIGHT positions. If test light illuminates in both positions, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate in one or both positions, replace power mirror switch.
- Using test light, backprobe between left-side power mirror harness connector terminals "E" (White wire) and "C" (Yellow wire). Move power mirror switch to LEFT and RIGHT positions. If test light illuminates in both positions, replace left-side power mirror. If test light does not illuminate in both positions, repair open in White or Yellow wire between power mirror switch and left-side power mirror.
LEFT-SIDE POWER MIRROR INOPERATIVE IN UP/DOWN POSITIONS
- Using test light, backprobe between power mirror switch harness connector terminals "D" (Yellow wire) and "C" (Light Green wire). Move power mirror switch to UP and DOWN positions. If test light illuminates in both positions, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate in one or both positions, replace power mirror switch.
- Using test light, backprobe between left-side power mirror harness connector terminals "C" (Yellow wire) and "D" (Light Green wire). Move power mirror switch to UP and DOWN positions. If test light illuminates in both positions, replace left-side power mirror. If test light does not illuminate in both positions, repair open in Yellow or Light Green wire between power mirror switch and left-side power mirror.
RIGHT-SIDE POWER MIRROR INOPERATIVE IN LEFT/RIGHT POSITIONS
- Using test light, backprobe between power mirror switch harness connector terminals "E" (Yellow wire) and "J" (Red/White wire). Move power mirror switch to LEFT and RIGHT positions. If test light illuminates in both positions, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate in one or both positions, replace power mirror switch.
- Using test light, backprobe between right-side power mirror harness connector terminals "C" (Yellow wire) and "E" (Red/White wire). Move power mirror switch to LEFT and RIGHT positions. If test light illuminates, replace right-side power mirror. If test light does not illuminate, repair open in Yellow or Red/White wire between power mirror switch and right-side power mirror.
RIGHT-SIDE POWER MIRROR INOPERATIVE IN UP/DOWN POSITIONS
- Using test light, backprobe between power mirror switch harness connector terminals "E" (Yellow wire) and "K" (Purple/White wire). Move power mirror switch to UP and DOWN positions. If test light illuminates in both positions, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate in one or both positions, replace power mirror switch.
- Using test light, backprobe between right-side power mirror harness connector terminals "C" (Yellow wire) and "D" (Purple/White wire). Move power mirror switch to UP and DOWN positions. If test light illuminates, replace right-side power mirror. If test light does not illuminate, repair open in Yellow or Purple/White wire between power mirror switch and right-side power mirror.
