Disassembly

Remove piston dust boot and retaining ring. (Scheme 3) Place a block of wood between piston and caliper cavity wall. Carefully apply a moderate amount of compressed air to fluid inlet to force piston out of cylinder.

Reassembly

To reassemble, reverse disassembly procedure. Lubricate piston seal, piston and caliper bore with brake fluid. Install dust boot seal ring. (Scheme 3)

Scheme 3

Scheme 3: Reassembly

Remove piston stopper circlip and primary piston from end of master cylinder. (Scheme 4) Remove secondary piston by removing secondary stopper bolt from bottom of master cylinder and applying low air pressure in stopper bolt hole.

  1. Coat all parts with clean brake fluid or brake assembly lube. Install new piston cups on pistons. Install secondary piston return spring, return spring seat and secondary piston in cylinder bore. Install primary piston in cylinder bore. (Scheme 4)
  2. Install sealing rings on piston stopper, and install stopper in cylinder bore. Depress primary piston and install piston stopper circlip in cylinder. Press primary piston into bore until seated.
  3. Install and tighten secondary stopper bolt in bottom of cylinder. Install reservoir on master cylinder, and bench-bleed before installing in vehicle. Bleed entire brake system after installation. See «BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM»(ref-46476-S16713668042001011500000).
