REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
| CAUTION | When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in the GENERAL INFORMATION section before disconnecting battery. |
Removal
- Remove door panel and inside panel sound insulator. Remove inside belt weatherstrip.
- Raise window glass to full up position. Remove glass run latch-side retainer from door.
- Lower window glass to gain access to window channel bracket and glass retention rivets.
- Place block of wood between bottom of door glass and outer door panel to support glass during rivet removal. CAUTION: When drilling, DO NOT damage glass, window channel bracket, window glass bracket spacers or window glass channel bracket retainers.
- Using a drift punch, remove center pins from glass retaining rivets. Using a 1/4-inch drill bit, drill out each rivet. Remove window glass through door belt opening.
Installation
- Install window glass bracket spacer and glass channel bracket retainer into glass retention holes.
- Install window glass into door through belt opening. Position window glass to door window channel bracket and align retaining holes. Install NEW retaining rivets.
- Raise glass to full up position. Install glass run latch-side retainer. Install screw and tighten to 89-124 INCH lbs. (10-14 N.m).
- Cycle window glass up and down to check operation. Install belt weatherstrip. Install inside panel sound insulator and front door trim panel.
- Remove door panel and inside panel sound insulator. Remove inside belt weatherstrip. Remove window glass. See «DOOR WINDOW GLASS»(ref-29374-S07118969242001010800000) .
- Remove 2 nut and washer assemblies attaching window regulator equalizer arm bracket. Remove 4 rivets retaining window regulator base plate to inner door panel.
- Remove window regulator and window channel bracket from vehicle. Working on bench, carefully bend tab flat to remove window regulator arm slides from window channel bracket.
| CAUTION | DO NOT break tab. If tab is cracked or broken, replace window channel bracket. Ensure rubber bumper is installed properly on NEW window channel bracket. |
Note. Window channel bracket and window regulator electric drive are installed as one assembly.
- Install NEW window regulator arm plastic guides into window channel bracket and bend tab back to 90 degrees. Install regulator electric drive with pre-assembled window channel bracket. Set regulator base plate to door inner panel using base plate locator tab as a guide.
- Install 4 rivets to retain window regulator to door inner panel. Install regulator equalizer arm bracket. Lower window regulator arms to access holes in door inner panel. Install window glass. See «DOOR WINDOW GLASS»(ref-29374-S07118969242001010800000) . To complete installation, reverse removal procedure.
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove door handle trim plate by carefully prying up with flat-blade tool. Remove switch trim panel by carefully prying up with flat-blade tool.
- Unsnap window regulator control switch from bezel. Remove control switch from door trim panel and disconnect connectors. To install, reverse removal procedure.
Disconnect negative battery cable. Carefully pry off LH instrument panel finish panel and position aside. Unsnap window regulator control switch from bezel. Disconnect electrical connector. To install, reverse removal procedure.
| WARNING | Window regulator electric drive has a counterbalance spring. Window MUST be in UP position to remove power motor or blocked to prevent window from suddenly raising, causing injury. |
| CAUTION | Check inside door to ensure window regulator wiring is not in line with holes to be drilled in door inner panel. |
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove door panel and inside panel sound insulator. Remove inside belt weatherstrip. Disconnect window regulator wiring connector.
- Using a 1/2-inch drill bit, drill 2 holes in door inner panel at drill dimples located opposite 2 unexposed window regulator electric-drive retaining screws.
- Remove 3 window regulator electric-drive retaining screws, using 2 drilled holes and one existing access hole. Push regulator electric-drive toward outside sheet metal to disengage from regulator gear.
- With regulator electric-drive and regulator gear disengaged, prop window glass in full up position. Remove regulator electric drive from door.
- Install NEW window regulator electric-drive. Tighten retaining screws to 53-98 INCH lbs. (6-10 N.m). Place duct tape over drilled holes. Connect window regulator wiring. Connect negative battery cable.
- Remove window glass prop. Check window glass operation. Ensure drain holes are open. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure.
