REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

All vehicles

1. Position the bottom-half of the front door weatherstrip aside.
2. Position the bottom-half of the rear door weatherstrip aside.
3. Remove the rear seat bolster. For additional information, refer to «SEATING»(/ford/taurus-x/i-2007-2009/remont/seats/#seat-system) article.
4. Position the rear of the scuff plate trim panel away from the body mounting stud.
5. Remove the lower B-pillar trim panel. Pull the lower B-pillar trim panel toward the center of the vehicle to release the retaining clips.
6. Pull the front of the scuff plate trim panel upward to release the retaining clips.
7. Pull the rear of the scuff plate trim panel upward to release the retaining clips.
8. Pull the middle of the scuff plate trim panel toward the inside of the vehicle to release the alignment guides from the lower B-pillar trim panel.
9. Remove the scuff plate trim panel.
10. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

1. Position aside the door opening weatherstrip.
2. Pull the A-pillar trim panel toward the center of the vehicle to release the first stage of the upper and center A-pillar trim panel retaining clips and the lower A-pillar trim panel retaining clip.
3. Move the A-pillar trim panel forward and rearward while gently pulling the A-pillar trim panel inward to disengage the second stage of the upper and center A-pillar trim panel retaining clips.
4. Pull the A-pillar trim panel rearward and upward to remove the A-pillar trim from the instrument panel.

INSTALLATION

1. Install new upper and center A-pillar trim panel 2-stage high retention retaining clips.
2. Install the lower A-pillar trim panel tabs into the instrument panel.
3. Align the 3 A-pillar trim panel retaining clips and the A-pillar trim panel locator pin to the A-pillar retaining clip holes and the A-pillar locator hole.
4. Install the A-pillar trim panel onto the A-pillar. Make sure that the 3 A-pillar trim panel retaining clips are seated correctly.

1. Remove the lower B-pillar trim panel. Pull the lower B-pillar trim panel toward the center of the vehicle to release the retaining clips.
2. Position the front seat forward.
3. Depower the supplemental restraint system (SRS). For additional information, refer to «SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM»(/ford/taurus-x/i-2007-2009/remont/airbag/#supplemental-inflatable-restraint-system) article.
4. Position aside the front and rear door opening weatherstrips.
5. Remove the front safety belt anchor-to-seat nut cover. Pull the top of the cover outward and then lift upward.
6. Remove the front safety belt anchor-to-seat nut. To install, tighten to 35 Nm (26 lb-ft).
7. Disconnect the safety belt tension sensor electrical connector.
8. Remove the B-pillar screw cover.
9. Remove the B-pillar screw.
10. Remove the upper B-pillar trim panel. Pull the lower portion of the upper B-pillar trim panel toward the center of the vehicle to release the retaining clips. Lower the upper B-pillar trim panel from the headliner. Separate the safety belt from the upper B-pillar trim panel.
11. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

1. Remove the rear seat bolster. For additional information, refer to «SEATING»(/ford/taurus-x/i-2007-2009/remont/seats/#seat-system) article.
2. Remove the C-pillar trim panel screw cover.
3. Remove the C-pillar trim panel screw.
4. Remove the C-pillar trim panel. Pull the forward bottom edge of the lower C-pillar toward the center of the vehicle. Separate the lower C-pillar from the D-pillar trim panel. Position the C-pillar trim panel toward the inside of the vehicle. Separate the C-pillar trim panel from the rear safety belt.
5. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

1. Remove the C-pillar trim screw cover.
2. Remove the C-pillar trim screw.
3. Remove the second row safety belt anchor-to-floor bolt. To install, tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
4. Remove the C-pillar trim panel. Pull the C-pillar trim panel toward the inside of the vehicle to release the retaining clips.
5. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

D-Pillar Trim Panel - Taurus, Sable

1. Remove the C-pillar trim panel. For additional information, refer to «C-Pillar Trim Panel - Taurus, Sable»(/ford/taurus-x/i-2007-2009/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim-and-ornamentation) .
2. If equipped with side curtain air bags, remove the screw from the D-pillar.
3. Remove the D-pillar. Pull the front inboard edge of the D-pillar trim panel down to release the retaining clips. Gently pull the outboard retaining clips down. Pull the D-pillar trim panel toward the front of the vehicle to remove.
4. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

1. Remove the third row safety belt anchor-to-floor bolt cover from the rear quarter trim panel.
2. Remove the third row safety belt anchor-to-floor bolt. To install, tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
3. Remove the D-pillar trim panel. Remove the D-pillar trim panel screw cover and screw. Pull the D-pillar trim panel toward the inside of the vehicle to release the retaining tabs.
4. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

All vehicles

1. Position aside the liftgate weatherstrip.
2. Remove the liftgate scuff plate trim panel. Remove the 2 pushpin retainers.
3. Remove the C-pillar trim panel. For additional information, refer to «C-Pillar Trim Panel - Taurus X»(/ford/taurus-x/i-2007-2009/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim-and-ornamentation) .
4. Remove the D-pillar trim panel. For additional information, refer to «D-Pillar Trim Panel - Taurus X»(/ford/taurus-x/i-2007-2009/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim-and-ornamentation) .
5. Position aside the bottom portion of the LH or RH rear door weatherstrip.
6. Position the rear portion of the scuff plate trim panel aside to gain access to the quarter trim panel retaining screw.
7. Remove the quarter trim panel retaining screw.
8. Position the second row seats in the flat position and then tilt the second row seats forward.
9. Position the third row seats in the flat position.
10. Remove the cargo net retaining hooks.
11. Remove the power liftgate rod retaining nut cover.
12. Remove the power liftgate rod retaining nut. To install, tighten to 11 Nm (8 lb-ft).
13. Remove the power liftgate rod from the liftgate.
14. Remove the power liftgate rod cover. Pull the power liftgate rod cover outward to release the power liftgate rod cover clips. Disconnect the electrical connector.
15. Position the liftgate rod to the full down position.
16. Remove the quarter trim panel. Pull the quarter trim panel toward the inside of the vehicle to release the retaining clips. If equipped, disconnect the electrical connectors. Maneuver the quarter trim panel over the third row seat and over the power liftgate rod.
17. Remove the quarter trim panel. Pull the quarter trim panel toward the inside of the vehicle to release the retaining clips. If equipped, disconnect the electrical connectors.
18. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Door Trim Panel - Front

Scheme 7

1. Remove the sail panel. If equipped, disconnect the electrical connector.
2. Remove the front door handle bezel screw cover.
3. Remove the front door handle bezel screw.
4. Remove the front door handle bezel.
5. Remove the 2 front door handle trim cover screws.
6. Remove the 5 front door trim panel screws.
7. Remove the front door trim panel. Pull the front door outward to release the retaining clips. If equipped, disconnect the electrical connectors.
8. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Door Trim Panel - Rear

Scheme 8

1. Remove the rear door handle bezel screw cover.
2. Remove the rear door handle bezel screw.
3. Remove the rear door handle bezel.
4. Remove the rear door handle trim cover screw.
5. Remove the 6 rear door trim panel screws.
6. Remove the rear door trim panel. Pull the rear door trim outward to release the retaining clips. If equipped, disconnect the electrical connectors.
7. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Scheme 9

Vehicles with a power liftgate

1. Remove the power liftgate rod retaining nut cover.
2. Remove the power liftgate rod retaining nut. To install, tighten to 11 Nm (8 lb-ft).
3. Remove the power liftgate rod from the liftgate.
4. Remove the liftgate upper trim panel. Pull the liftgate upper trim panel toward the middle of the liftgate window glass to release the retaining clips.
5. Remove the 4 liftgate trim screws.
6. Remove the liftgate lower trim panel. Pull outward on the liftgate lower trim panel outward to release the retaining clips.
7. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Scheme 10

1. Remove the rear seat cushion. For additional information, refer to «SEATING»(/ford/taurus-x/i-2007-2009/remont/seats/#seat-system) article.
2. Remove the RH and LH C-pillar trim panel. For additional information, refer to «C-Pillar Trim Panel - Taurus, Sable»(/ford/taurus-x/i-2007-2009/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim-and-ornamentation) .
3. Remove the RH and LH D-pillar trim panel. For additional information, refer to «D-Pillar Trim Panel - Taurus, Sable»(/ford/taurus-x/i-2007-2009/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim-and-ornamentation__d-pillar-trim-panel-taurus-sable) .
4. Remove the rear center safety belt lower anchor nut. To install, tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
5. Position the rear seats to the flat position.
6. Remove the rear center safety belt bezel. Pull the rear center safety belt bezel outward.
7. Disconnect the electrical connector located at the LH D-pillar.
8. Remove the 3 parcel shelf pin-type retainers.
9. Remove the parcel shelf. Pull the parcel shelf toward the front of the vehicle.
10. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Scheme 11

REMOVAL

1. Remove the parcel shelf from the vehicle. For additional information, refer to «Parcel Shelf»(/ford/taurus-x/i-2007-2009/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim-and-ornamentation) .
2. Place the rear sunshade onto a suitable work surface.
3. Turn the rear sunshade over in order to access the rear sunshade bolts.
4. Remove the 2 rear sunshade bolts.
5. Press the LH end of the rear sunshade out of the parcel shelf.
6. Using a suitable tool, release the tabs on the LH rear sunshade retainer while pressing the LH side of the sunshade outward.
7. Press the RH end of the rear sunshade out of the parcel shelf.
8. Using a suitable tool, release the tabs on the RH rear sunshade retainer while pressing the RH side of the sunshade outward.
9. Turn the rear sunshade over in order to remove the sunshade from the parcel shelf.
10. Remove the rear sunshade. Pull the rear sunshade outward from the parcel shelf to release the sunshade from the 2 middle retaining clips.

1. Position the rear sunshade onto the parcel shelf.
2. Install the LH side of the rear parcel shelf by placing one hand under the parcel shelf, while using the other hand to press the sunshade into the LH retaining clip, until it is fully seated.
3. Install the RH side of the rear parcel shelf by placing one hand under the parcel shelf, while using the other hand to press the sunshade into the RH retaining clip, until it is fully seated.
4. Press downward on the middle of the rear sunshade to install the sunshade into the 2 middle retaining clips.
5. Inspect to make sure that all of the edges of the rear sunshade are installed into the parcel shelf.
6. Turn the rear sunshade over in order to install the sunshade bolts.
7. Install and tighten the 2 rear sunshade bolts.
8. Install the parcel shelf into the vehicle. For additional information, refer to «Parcel Shelf»(/ford/taurus-x/i-2007-2009/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim-and-ornamentation) .

Headliner - Taurus, Sable

Scheme 12

1. Depower the supplemental restraints system (SRS). For additional information, refer to «SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM»(/ford/taurus-x/i-2007-2009/remont/airbag/#supplemental-inflatable-restraint-system) article.
2. If equipped, remove the DVD system. For additional information, refer to «INFORMATION AND ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEMS»(/ford/taurus-x/i-2007-2009/remont/entertainment-systems/#information-system-and-entertainment-systems) article.
3. Remove the LH and RH A-pillar trim panels. For additional information, refer to «A-Pillar Trim Panel»(/ford/taurus-x/i-2007-2009/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim-and-ornamentation) .
4. Remove the passenger side door check arm. Remove the 2 door check arm bolts from the body. To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
5. Remove LH and RH front seats. For additional information, refer to «SEATING»(/ford/taurus-x/i-2007-2009/remont/seats/#seat-system) article.
6. Remove the front floor console. For additional information, refer to «INSTRUMENT PANEL AND CONSOLE»(/ford/taurus-x/i-2007-2009/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#instrument-panel-and-console) article.
7. Remove selector lever. For additional information, refer to «AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION EXTERNAL CONTROLS»(/ford/taurus-x/i-2007-2009/remont/automatic-trans/#automatic-transmission-external-controls) article.
8. Flatten LH and RH carpet against floor and tape into position.
9. Remove the LH and RH B-pillar trim panels. For additional information, refer to «B-Pillar Trim Panel»(/ford/taurus-x/i-2007-2009/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim-and-ornamentation) .
10. Completely remove front RH door weatherstrip from opening.
11. Remove the LH and RH C-pillar trim panels. For additional information, refer to «C-Pillar Trim Panel - Taurus, Sable»(/ford/taurus-x/i-2007-2009/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim-and-ornamentation) .
12. Remove the LH and RH D-pillar trim panels. For additional information, refer to «D-Pillar Trim Panel - Taurus, Sable»(/ford/taurus-x/i-2007-2009/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim-and-ornamentation__d-pillar-trim-panel-taurus-sable) .
13. Remove the 3 assist handles. Remove the assist handle screws.
14. Remove the LH and RH sun visor. Remove the 3 sun visor retaining screws. If equipped, disconnect the electrical connectors. Remove the sun visor clip screws. Remove the sun visor clips.
15. Remove the LH and RH sun visor clips. Remove the sun visor clip screws.
16. If equipped, disconnect the roof opening panel trim ring dual-lock from the roof opening panel.
17. If equipped, disconnect the roof opening panel electrical connector.
18. If equipped, disconnect the interior auto-dimming electrical connector.
19. If equipped, disconnect the compass sensor electrical connector.
20. Disconnect the electrical connector located on the LH and RH lower A-pillar. Remove the wiring harness pin-type retainers.
21. If equipped, disconnect the safety canopy bridge resistor electrical connector.
22. Remove the 3 trim panel retaining clips from the rear of the headliner. Remove the center retaining clip, using a pushpin puller and the 2 outer clips, using a thin-blade screwdriver to depress the engagement tabs.
23. Remove the headliner. Lower the headliner. Rotate the headliner 90 degrees clockwise and remove the headliner through the right front door opening.
24. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Headliner - Taurus X

Scheme 13

1. Depower the supplemental restraint system (SRS). For additional information, refer to «SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM»(/ford/taurus-x/i-2007-2009/remont/airbag/#supplemental-inflatable-restraint-system) article.
2. If equipped, remove the DVD system. For additional information, refer to «INFORMATION AND ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEMS»(/ford/taurus-x/i-2007-2009/remont/entertainment-systems/#information-system-and-entertainment-systems) article.
3. Remove the LH and RH A-pillar trim panels. For additional information, refer to «A-Pillar Trim Panel»(/ford/taurus-x/i-2007-2009/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim-and-ornamentation) .
4. Remove the LH and RH scuff plate trim panels. For additional information, refer to «Scuff Plate Trim Panel»(/ford/taurus-x/i-2007-2009/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim-and-ornamentation) .
5. Remove the LH and RH B-pillar trim panels. For additional information, refer to «B-Pillar Trim Panel»(/ford/taurus-x/i-2007-2009/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim-and-ornamentation) .
6. Remove the LH and RH C-pillar trim panels. For additional information, refer to «C-Pillar Trim Panel - Taurus X»(/ford/taurus-x/i-2007-2009/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim-and-ornamentation) .
7. Remove the LH and RH D-pillar trim panels. For additional information, refer to «D-Pillar Trim Panel - Taurus X»(/ford/taurus-x/i-2007-2009/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim-and-ornamentation) .
8. Remove the power liftgate rod. For additional information, refer to «BODY CLOSURES»(/ford/taurus-x/i-2007-2009/remont/exterior-body-panels/#body-panel-system-body-closures) article.
9. Remove the LH and RH quarter trim panels. For additional information, refer to «Quarter Trim Panel»(/ford/taurus-x/i-2007-2009/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim-and-ornamentation) .
10. Remove the 3 assist handles from the headliner. Position the assist handle downward. Remove the assist handle screws.
11. Remove the LH and RH sun visors. Remove the 6 sun visor retaining screws. If equipped, disconnect the electrical connectors.
12. Remove the LH and RH sun visor clips. Remove the sun visor clip screws. Remove the sun visor clips.
13. If equipped, disconnect the electrical connector from the interior rear view mirror.
14. If equipped, disconnect the electrical connector from the compass sensor.
15. If equipped, partially lower the front of the headliner and disconnect the roof opening panel electrical connector.
16. Disconnect the electrical connectors located on the LH and RH A-pillars. Remove the wiring harness pin-type retainers.
17. Disconnect the rear window washer hose connector located on the RH A-pillar.
18. Disconnect the rear window washer hose connector and the electrical connector located on the RH D-pillar.
19. Disconnect the electrical connector located on the LH D-pillar.
20. Remove the liftgate opening weatherstrip.
21. Remove the 3 headliner pin-type retainers from the rear of the headliner.
22. Remove the headliner. Lower the headliner. Remove the headliner through the liftgate opening.
23. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Power Point

Special Tools Illustration Tool Name Tool Number Remover, Power Point Socket 501-039 or equivalent

Note. Power point cover may differ depending on location.

1. Open the power point cover.
2. Install the special tool in one of the power point socket slots.
3. Position the special tool so that it engages in the adjacent slot.
4. Using the special tool, pull the power point socket out of the retainer.
5. Disconnect the electrical connector.

1. Connect the electrical connector.
2. Slide the power point socket into the retainer.
