Removal and Installation

  1. NOTE: Do not pull on the spark plug wire as it may separate from the spark plug wire connector inside the spark plug wire boot. NOTE: Spark plug wires must be connected correctly. For additional information, refer to the «COIL TERMINAL-TO-CYLINDER RELATIONSHIP»(ref-365418-S27332965412010070700000) illustration, «ENGINE IGNITION»(ref-365418-S21927067052010070700000) . Failure to follow this instruction may result in poor engine performance. Remove the spark plug wires by slightly twisting while pulling upwards.
  2. Disconnect the ignition coil electrical connector.
  3. Remove the 4 bolts and the ignition coil. To install, tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb-in).
  4. NOTE: Wipe the coil towers with a clean cloth dampened with soap and water. Remove any soap film and dry with compressed air. Inspect for cracks, carbon tracking and dirt. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Apply silicone dielectric compound to the inside of the spark plug wire boots prior to installation.

Note. Do not pull on the spark plug wire as it may separate from the spark plug wire connector inside the spark plug wire boot.

Note. Spark plug wires must be connected correctly. For additional information, refer to the COIL TERMINAL-TO-CYLINDER RELATIONSHIP illustration. Failure to follow this instruction may result in poor engine performance.

Note. Wipe the spark plug wire sets with a clean, damp cloth before inspecting them. Without removing the spark plug wire sets from the spark plugs or ignition coils, inspect them for visible damage such as cuts, pinches, or cracked or torn boots.
