Removal and Installation

LH side

Scheme 3

1. Disconnect the crankcase ventilation tube-to-valve cover fitting quick connect coupling and position. For additional information, refer to «FUEL SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION»(ref-439829) article. RH side
2. Remove the upper intake manifold. For additional Information, refer to «ENGINE MECHANICAL - 3.7L»(ref-439770) article. Both sides
3. Disconnect the ignition coil-on-plug electrical connector.
4. Remove the bolt and the ignition coil-on-plug. To install, tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb-in).
5. Inspect the coil seal for rips, nicks or tears. Remove and discard any damaged coil seals. To install, slide the new coil seal onto the coil until it is fully seated at the top of the coil.
6. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

1. Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the inside of the ignition coil-on-plug boot before attaching to the spark plug.

1. Remove the ignition coil-on-plug. For additional information, refer to «IGNITION COIL-ON-PLUG»(ref-439824-S40234886342011120900000) in this service information.
2. Remove the spark plug. To install, tighten to 15 Nm (133 lb-in).
3. Inspect the spark plug. For additional information, refer to «ENGINE MECHANICAL SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION»(ref-439783) article.
4. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

1. Adjust the spark plug gap as necessary.
