- A1 TEST THE BRAKE LIGHTS Apply the brake pedal and view the brake lights. Do the brake lights illuminate? Yes: GO to A2 . No: REFER to «EXTERIOR LIGHTING»(ref-255288) .
- A2 TEST FUSE C34 (30A) Check fuse: Fuse C34 (30A) Power Distribution Box. Is the resistance of the fuse 5 ohms or less? Yes: GO to A3 . No: REFER to «STARTING SYSTEM»(ref-255253) .
- A3 TEST FUSE C18 (10A) Check fuse: Fuse C18 (10A) Smart Junction Box. Is the resistance of the fuse 5 ohms or less? Yes: GO to A4 . No: REFER to «STARTING SYSTEM»(ref-255253) .
- A4 TEST CIRCUIT 1050 (LG/PK) FOR SHORT TO GROUND Disconnect: Ignition Switch C250. Measure the resistance between ignition switch C250 pin 1, circuit 1050 (LG/PK) harness side and ground. Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms? Yes: GO to A5 . No: REPAIR circuit 1050 (LG/PK). TEST the system for normal operation.
- A5 TEST CIRCUIT 1050 (LG/PK) FOR AN OPEN Disconnect: Ignition Switch C250. Disconnect: Smart Junction Box (SJB) C2280b. Measure the resistance between SJB C2280b pin 32, circuit 1050 (LG/PK), harness side and ignition switch C250 pin 1, harness side. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? Yes: GO to A6 . No: REPAIR circuit 1050 (LG/PK). TEST the system for normal operation.
- A6 TEST CIRCUIT 1140e (PK) FOR BATTERY VOLTAGE Key in OFF position. Disconnect: Brake Pedal Position (BPP) Switch C278. Measure the voltage between BPP switch C278 pin 1, circuit 1140e (PK), harness side and ground. Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? Yes: GO to A7 . No: REPAIR circuit 1140e (PK). TEST the system for normal operation.
- A7 TEST CIRCUIT 1140e (PK) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND Disconnect: Brake Pedal Position (BPP) Switch C278. Measure the resistance between BPP switch C278 pin 2, circuit 1140e (PK), harness side and ground. Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms? Yes: GO to A8 . No: REPAIR circuit 1140e (PK). TEST the system for normal operation.
- A8 TEST CIRCUIT 1140e (PK) FOR AN OPEN Disconnect: Smart Junction Box (SJB) C265. Measure the resistance between SJB C2280a pin 27 and BPP switch C278 pin 2, circuit 1140e (PK), harness side. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? Yes: GO to A9 . No: REPAIR circuit 1140e (PK). TEST the system for normal operation.
- A9 TEST THE BRAKE PEDAL POSITION (BPP) SWITCH Measure the resistance between BPP switch C278 pin 1 and pin 2, while OPEN (off) and CLOSED (on). Is the resistance of the switch greater than 10,000 ohms while OFF and 5 ohms or less while ON? Yes: GO to A10 . No: INSTALL a new BPP switch. TEST the system for normal operation.
- A10 TEST CIRCUIT 810 (RD/LG) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND Disconnect: Floor Shifter Harness Assembly C3245. Measure the resistance between floor shifter harness assembly C3245 pin 1, circuit 810 (RD/LG), harness side and ground. Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms? Yes: GO to A11 . No: REPAIR circuit 810 (RD/LG). TEST the system for normal operation.
- A11 TEST CIRCUIT 810 (RD/LG) FOR AN OPEN Measure the resistance between BPP switch C278 pin 1, circuit 810 (RD/LG), harness side and floor shifter harness assembly C3245 pin 1, circuit 810 (RD/LG), harness side. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? Yes: GO to A12 . No: REPAIR circuit 810. TEST the system for normal operation.
- A12 TEST CIRCUIT 810 (RD/LG) FOR BATTERY VOLTAGE Connect: Brake Pedal Position (BPP) Switch C278. Disconnect: Floor Shifter Harness Assembly C3245. Depress the brake pedal. Measure the voltage on floor shifter harness assembly C3245 pin 1, circuit 810 (RD/LG), harness side and ground. Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? Yes: REPAIR circuit 810 (RD/LG). TEST the system for normal operation. No: GO to A13 .
- A13 TEST CIRCUIT 409 (TN/BK) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND Disconnect: Floor Shifter Harness Assembly C3245. Measure the resistance between floor shifter harness assembly C3245 pin 8, circuit 409 (TN/BK), harness side and ground. Is the resistance less than 10,000 ohms? Yes: REPAIR circuit 409 (TN/BK). TEST the system for normal operation. No: GO to A14 .
- A14 TEST CIRCUIT 409 (TN/BK) FOR AN OPEN Disconnect: Ignition Switch C250. Disconnect: Floor Shifter Harness Assembly C3245. Measure the resistance between floor shifter harness assembly C3245 pin 8, and ignition switch C250 pin 3, circuit 409 (TN/BK), harness side. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? Yes: REPAIR circuit 409 (TN/BK). TEST the system for normal operation. No: GO to A15 .
- A15 TEST CIRCUIT 1205NZ (BK) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND

- Disconnect: Floor Shifter Harness Assembly C3245.
- Measure the resistance between floor shifter harness assembly C3245 pin 4, circuit 1205NZ (BK), harness side and ground.
- Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?
Yes: INSTALL a new selector lever, REFER to SELECTOR LEVER . TEST the system for normal operation.
No: REPAIR circuit 1205NZ (BK). TEST the system for normal operation.

- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to «JACKING & LIFTING»(ref-255244) .
- Remove the air cleaner and the outlet pipe. For additional information, refer to «REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION»(ref-255254-S23832507712007053000000) .
- Disconnect the selector lever cable end.
- Place the manual control lever in the DRIVE position.
- Place the gear shift lever in the DRIVE position.
- Slide the release tab toward the back of the cable end to unlock the adjuster.
- Pull out on the adjuster locking tab.
- Slide the cable end either backward or forward to align it with the manual control lever.
- With the adjuster locking tab released connect the selector lever cable end to the manual lever.
- Push the adjuster locking tab in to lock it in place.
- Slide the release tab back to lock the adjuster.
- Disconnect the selector lever cable end.
- Place the manual lever in the DRIVE position.
- Place the gearshift lever in the DRIVE position.
- Slide the release tab toward the back of the selector lever cable end to unlock the adjuster.
- Pull out on the adjuster locking tab.
- Slide the selector lever cable end either backward or forward to align it with the manual control lever.
- With the adjuster locking tab released, connect the selector lever cable end to the manual lever.
- Push the adjuster locking tab in to lock it in place.
- Slide the release tab back to lock the adjuster.
- Install the air cleaner and the outlet pipe. For additional information, refer to «REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION»(ref-255254-S34187134992007053000000) and «REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION»(ref-255254-S23832507712007053000000) .
- Verify that the vehicle starts in PARK and NEUTRAL only and that the reverse lamps illuminate in REVERSE.

- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to «JACKING & LIFTING»(ref-255244) .
- Remove the air cleaner and the outlet pipe. For additional information, refer to «REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION»(ref-255254-S34187134992007053000000) .
- Remove the center console. For additional information, refer to «INSTRUMENT PANEL»(ref-255306-S03581719392007062000000) .
- Disconnect the selector lever cable end from the selector lever.
- Depress the tab on the selector lever cable and lift up on the selector lever cable to remove it from the housing.
- Pull the carpet and the insulation back to access the cable retainer and rubber grommet.
- Remove the 2 bolts for the instrument panel brace.
- Pull the selector lever cable toward the front of the vehicle, and position the cable over the top of the rear floor heat duct.
- Carefully pull the bottom of the instrument panel brace and slide the selector lever cable out from behind the brace.
- Remove the 2 nuts from the rubber grommet at the bulkhead and remove the cable from the retainer.
- Disconnect the selector lever cable end.
- Remove the electrical connector from the selector lever cable bracket.
- Pull the plunger to unlock the cable and remove the cable from the bracket.
- Disconnect the selector lever cable end.
- Remove the electrical connector from the selector lever cable bracket.
- Pull the plunger to unlock the selector lever cable and remove the selector lever cable from the bracket.
- Disconnect the selector lever cable from the brake tube bracket.
- From inside of the vehicle, pull the selector lever cable through the bulkhead and remove from the vehicle.

- Install the selector lever cable and install the 2 nuts. Tighten to 7 N.m (62 lb-in).
- Carefully pull the bottom of the instrument panel brace and slide the selector lever cable behind the brace.
- Pull the selector lever cable toward the front of the vehicle, and position the cable under the rear floor heat duct.
- Install the 2 bolts for the instrument panel brace. Tighten to 48 N.m (35 lb-ft).
- Make sure that the selector lever cable is in the routing clip.
- Position the carpet and insulation back in place.
- Slide the selector lever cable into the shifter housing. Pull up on the cable to make sure it is fully seated.
- Connect the selector lever cable end to the selector lever.
- Install the center console. For additional information, refer to «INSTRUMENT PANEL»(ref-255306-S03581719392007062000000) .
- Install the selector lever cable in the bracket and make sure that the plunger is locked in place. Pull up on the cable to make sure it is fully seated.
- Connect the electrical connector to the selector lever cable bracket.
- Connect the selector lever cable end.
- Install the selector lever cable into the bracket and make sure that the plunger is locked in place. Pull up on the cable to make sure it is fully seated.
- Connect the electrical connector to the selector lever cable bracket.
- Connect the selector lever cable end.
- Attach the selector lever cable to the brake tube bracket. Connect the wire harness to the selector lever cable.
- If necessary, adjust the selector lever cable. For additional information, refer to «SELECTOR LEVER CABLE ADJUSTMENT»(ref-255305-S11860028662007053000000) .
- Install the air cleaner and the outlet pipe. For additional information, refer to «REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION»(ref-255254-S23832507712007053000000) .

- Disconnect the selector lever cable end from the selector lever.
- Depress the tab on the selector lever cable connector and lift up on the selector lever cable to remove it from the housing.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Disconnect the wire harness from the shifter in 3 locations.
- Remove the RH plastic retaining clip for the carpet.
- Remove the LH plastic retaining clip for the carpet.
- Remove the 2 front shifter bolts.
- Remove the 2 rear shifter bolts and the shifter from the vehicle.

- Install the shifter and the 2 front bolts. Tighten to 11 N.m (8 lb-ft).
- Install the 2 rear shifter bolts. Tighten to 11 N.m (8 lb-ft).
- Connect the wire harness to the shifter.
- Connect the electrical connector.
- Install the LH plastic retaining clip for the carpet.
- Install the RH plastic retaining clip for the carpet.
- Push the selector lever cable into the housing. Make sure that the tab on the selector lever cable connector is locked in place. Pull up on the cable to make sure it is fully seated.
- Connect the selector lever cable end to the selector lever.
- Install the center console. For additional information, refer to «INSTRUMENT PANEL»(ref-255306-S03581719392007062000000) .
- Check the selector lever cable adjustment. Make sure that the vehicle starts in PARK and NEUTRAL and the reverse lamps illuminate in REVERSE. If an adjustment is necessary, refer to «SELECTOR LEVER CABLE ADJUSTMENT»(ref-255305-S11860028662007053000000) .

- Remove the PRNDL trim ring.
- Remove the upper console panel.
- Slide the lower shift knob bezel downward.
- Remove the bolt and lift up on the shift knob to remove.
- Remove the lower shift knob bezel.
- Disconnect the light bulb from the PRNDL bezel.
- Release the 4 locking tabs and remove the PRNDL bezel assembly.

- Install the PRNDL bezel. Make sure that the 4 locking tabs are snapped in place.
- Connect the light bulb to the PRNDL bezel.
- Install the lower shift knob bezel.
- Install the shift knob and bolt.
- Slide the lower shift knob bezel up and snap it into place.
- Install the upper console panel.
- Install the PRNDL trim ring.
