Engine Cooling System: Removal & Installation Ford Focus II facelift

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to «JACKING AND LIFTING»(ref-357126) article.
2. Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to «Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding»(ref-357157-S33631403912010030800000) .
3. Remove the accessory drive belt. For additional information, refer to «ACCESSORY DRIVE»(ref-357139) article.
4. Remove the 2 nuts and position aside the power steering tube. To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
5. Remove the cooling fan motor and shroud. For additional information, refer to «Cooling Fan Motor and Shroud»(ref-357157-S41285620092010030800000) .
6. Remove the 2 bolts, the stud bolt and position aside the A/C compressor. To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
7. Disconnect the radiator and heater hoses from the thermostat housing.
8. Remove the 3 bolts, thermostat housing and thermostat as an assembly. To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
9. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
10. Fill and bleed the cooling system. For additional information, refer to «Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding»(ref-357157-S33631403912010030800000) .

2. Remove the 2 bolts and position aside the coolant expansion tank. To install, tighten to 4 Nm (35 lb-in).
3. Loosen the 3 coolant pump pulley bolts.
4. Remove the accessory drive belt. For additional information, refer to «ACCESSORY DRIVE»(ref-357139) article.
5. Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to «Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding»(ref-357157-S33631403912010030800000) .
6. Remove the 3 coolant pump pulley bolts and the pulley. To install, tighten to 20 Nm (15 lb-ft).
7. Remove the 3 coolant pump bolts and the coolant pump. To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
8. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
9. Fill and bleed the cooling system. For additional information, refer to «Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding»(ref-357157-S33631403912010030800000) .

2. Remove the lower radiator air deflector. For additional information, refer to «FRONT END BODY PANELS»(ref-357183) article.
3. Disconnect the cooling fan motor and shroud electrical connector and the pin-type retainers.
4. Remove the 2 bolts and remove the cooling fan motor and shroud from the vehicle. To install, tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).
5. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Scheme 2

1. Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to «Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding»(ref-357157-S33631403912010030800000) .
2. Disconnect the block heater electrical connector.
3. Remove the block heater. To install, tighten to 20 Nm (15 lb-ft).
4. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
5. Fill and bleed the cooling system. For additional information, refer to «Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding»(ref-357157-S33631403912010030800000) .

Scheme 3

1. Using a suitable suction device, siphon the coolant from the coolant expansion tank.
2. Disconnect the overflow hose from the coolant expansion tank.
3. Remove the 2 coolant expansion tank bolts. To install, tighten to 4 Nm (35 lb-in).
4. Lift and remove the coolant expansion tank.
5. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
6. Fill the coolant expansion tank. Refer to «Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding»(ref-357157-S33631403912010030800000) for the recommended coolant mixture and fill level.
