- Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to «BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES»(ref-207791) .
- Remove the camshaft position (CMP) sensor. Disconnect the CMP sensor electrical connector. Remove the bolt retaining the CMP sensor. Remove the CMP sensor.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.

- Disconnect the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor electrical connector.
- Remove the CKP sensor.

- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to «JACKING AND LIFTING»(ref-234418) .
- Remove the two retaining screws and the crankshaft pulley shield.
- Disconnect the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor electrical connector.
- Remove the plug.
- Turn the crankshaft pulley bolt to position the number one cylinder at top dead center, and install the special tool.
- Remove the CKP sensor retaining bolts and the sensor.
- Install an 6 mm x 18 mm standard bolt.

- Install the CKP sensor, but do not tighten the bolts at this time.
- Adjust the CKP sensor alignment jig and tighten the bolts.
- Connect the CKP sensor electrical connector.
- Remove the 6 mm bolt.
- Remove the crankshaft timing peg.
- Install the plug.
- Install the crankshaft pulley shield.

- Disconnect the power steering pressure (PSP) switch electrical connector.
- Remove the PSP switch.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.

- Remove the instrument panel side trim.
- Remove the cowl side trim panel.
- Remove the glove box.
- Remove the passenger side lower footwell trim panel.
- Remove the generic electronic module (GEM). Remove the two retaining nuts. Remove the GEM module and the bracket and position aside.
- Disconnect the powertrain control (PCM) module electrical connectors and remove the PCM.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.

- Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe.
- Disconnect idle air control (IAC) valve electrical connector.
- Remove the IAC valve upper bolt.
- Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to «JACKING AND LIFTING»(ref-234418) .
- Remove the IAC valve.

- Remove throttle body snow shield. Remove the retaining screw. Release the emission tube. Remove the snow shield.
- Remove the idle air control (IAC) valve. Disconnect the IAC electrical connector. Remove the two IAC retaining screws. Remove the IAC valve.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.

- Remove the MAF sensor.
