Power Window: Removal & Installation Ford Focus I

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

CAUTIONWhen battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery.
  1. Remove door trim panel and trim shield. Remove side impact bolster. Remove 4 screws securing door speaker, and disconnect wire connector (if equipped). Detach door latch release handle. Cut through Butyl strip securing watershield to door, and peel back watershield. Reinstall window control switch, and lower window to align window regulator-to-window glass retaining bolts with access holes in door.
  2. Disconnect window control switch harness connector. Remove 2 window regulator-to-window glass retaining bolts. While holding window glass at top of opening, lower window regulator, and detach window glass from window regulator. Secure window glass in up position.
  3. Remove 7 screws securing window regulator. Disconnect window motor harness connector. Remove window regulator and window motor assembly from door. Remove 3 window motor retaining bolts. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten window regulator-to-window glass retaining bolts to 71 INCH lbs. (8 N.m). Tighten window regulator mounting bolts to 62 INCH lbs. (7 N.m).

Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove left side door trim panel. Remove 2 screws retaining relay to door. Disconnect wiring harness and remove relay. To install, reverse removal procedure.

Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove inside door handle cup. Push window switch retaining tab and pull switch from door trim panel. Disconnect wiring harness and remove switch. To install, reverse removal procedure.

Removal

  1. Lower window glass until it is half down. Remove door trim panel and trim shield. Remove side impact bolster. Remove 4 screws securing door speaker, and disconnect wire connector (if equipped). Detach door latch release handle. Cut through Butyl strip securing watershield to door, and peel back watershield. Connect window control switch, and align window regulator clamp with access hole.
  2. Push out pin, and then sleeve from regulator clamp. Remove window glass from window regulator. Secure window glass in up position. Disconnect window control switch, and window motor harness connectors. Remove 3 screws securing window regulator. Remove window regulator and window motor assembly.

Installation

  1. Install window regulator and window motor assembly, and secure with 3 screws. Tighten window regulator-to-window glass retaining bolts to 71 INCH lbs. (8 N.m). Connect window control switch, and window motor harness connectors. Release window glass from up position. Align regulator clamp with access hole. Push in sleeve, and pin, while pushing down on window glass firmly to engage pin into regulator clamp.
  2. Connect window control switch harness connector. Attach watershield and door latch release handle. Connect door speaker wire connector, and secure door speaker with 4 screws (if equipped). Install side impact bolster. Install door trim panel and trim shield.
