Steering Wheel Cover Repair

MATERIALS SPECIFICATIONS

NOTE: If re-adhering leather to the front side of the steering wheel only, it will not be necessary to remove the steering wheel. Steering wheel removal is necessary only when repairing loose leather on the backside of the steering wheel. If necessary, remove the steering wheel. Refer to: «STEERING WHEEL»(/ford/focus-st/iii-2012-2015/remont/steering-column/#steering-column-electric__steering-wheel) .
Position the loose leather out of the way.
Apply the specified adhesive evenly over the wheel spoke. Material : Instant Gel Adhesive/TA-19 (WSK-M2G402-A4)
Position the loose leather back into the original position.
NOTE: The adhesive should be completely set after 5 minutes. Do not pull on the repair area. Smooth the leather and tuck in for neat appearance.
Apply pressure (for at least 30 seconds) until the leather is bonded to the wheel spoke.
If removed, install the steering wheel. Refer to: «STEERING WHEEL»(/ford/focus-st/iii-2012-2015/remont/steering-column/#steering-column-electric__steering-wheel) .

Scheme 5: Removal

Refer to: «DRIVER AIRBAG»(/ford/focus-st/iii-2012-2015/remont/airbag/#supplemental-restraint-system-electric) .
NOTE: Make sure that the road wheels are in the straight ahead position. Torque : 48 Nm
NOTE: Make sure that the clockspring rotor does not rotate. NOTE: Make sure that the clockspring pins are not bent or damaged. General Equipment : Adhesive Tape
NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component. Torque : 3 Nm

Note. To prevent damage to the clockspring, make sure the front wheels are in the straight-ahead position.

Discard the specified component. Follow local disposal regulations. Torque : 28 Nm
NOTE: The deployable steering column electrical connector retaining tabs are not easily accessible. Using an inspection mirror and needle-nose pliers, or equivalent, may help in viewing and releasing the electrical connector retaining tabs. If equipped.
