Installation

Note. Steps 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 only need to be performed if a new BCM has been installed.

  1. Install the BCM and connect the electrical connectors.
  2. Download the BCM configuration information from the scan tool to the new BCM by following the scan tool on screen instructions.
  3. NOTE: If a new BCM is installed, the BCM and the PCM require a parameter reset to allow the BCM, PCM and the RFA module to recognize each other. If installing a new BCM, carry out the parameter reset and key programming procedure. REFER to «PASSIVE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM (PATS) PARAMETER RESET»(ref-517599-S23706497312012121200000)
  4. Carry out the keyless entry keypad code programming procedure. REFER to «KEYLESS ENTRY KEYPAD CODE PROGRAMMING»(ref-517619-S28387693062012121200000) .
  5. Train the tire pressure sensors. REFER to «TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM (TPMS) SENSOR TRAINING - INTELLIGENT ACCESS (IA)»(ref-517544-S10289686072012121200000) .
  6. Carry out the BCM self-test (must include an on-demand self-test) and then repeat the self-test to confirm all DTCs have been cleared.

Note. Steps 2, 3, 4 and 5 only need to be performed if a new BCM has been installed.

  1. Install the BCM and connect the electrical connectors.
  2. Download the BCM configuration information from the scan tool to the new BCM by following the scan tool on screen instructions.
  3. NOTE: If a new BCM is installed, the BCM and the PCM require a parameter reset to allow the BCM, PCM to recognize each other. NOTE: The vehicle's IKTs must be programmed to the new BCM. If installing a new BCM, carry out the parameter reset procedure. REFER to «PASSIVE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM (PATS) PARAMETER RESET»(ref-517598-S12268425512012121200000) .
  4. Train the tire pressure sensors. REFER to «TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM (TPMS) SENSOR TRAINING - INTEGRATED KEYHEAD TRANSMITTER (IKT)»(ref-517544-S33120446922012121200000) .
  5. Carry out the BCM self-test (must include an on-demand self-test) and then repeat the self-test to confirm all DTCs have been cleared.

Removal

  1. NOTE: If installing a new module, it is necessary to upload the module configuration information to the scan tool prior to removing the module. This information must be downloaded into the new module after installation. Upload the module configuration information from the RFA module into the scan tool by following the scan tool on screen instructions.
  2. Remove the glove box. REFER to Refer to «INSTRUMENT PANEL - EXPLODED VIEW»(ref-517618-S29853173432012121200000) ..
  3. Remove the RFA module. Disconnect the RFA module electrical connectors. Remove the RFA module nuts.
  1. Install the RFA module. Install the RFA module nuts. Tighten to 3 Nm (27 lb-in). Connect the RFA module electrical connectors.
  2. Install the glove box. REFER to Refer to «INSTRUMENT PANEL - EXPLODED VIEW»(ref-517618-S29853173432012121200000) ..
  3. Download the RFA module configuration information from the scan tool to the new RFA module by following the scan tool on screen instructions.
  4. NOTE: The PMI process does not include the IA key programming into the new RFA module. After the PMI process has been completed, the IA keys need to be programmed into the new RFA module during ignition off. REFER to «KEY PROGRAMMING USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT»(ref-517599-S20878884992012121200000) . After the IA keys have been programmed into the new RFA module, the ignition must be turned to the ON mode in order to reset the parameters. REFER to «PASSIVE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM (PATS) PARAMETER RESET»(ref-517599-S23706497312012121200000) . Program the IA keys into the new RFA module. REFER to «KEY PROGRAMMING USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT»(ref-517599-S20878884992012121200000) .
  5. It may be necessary to configure the factory set 5-digit permanent entry code from the BCM into the new RFA module. A new RFA module does not come equipped with a factory set 5-digit permanent entry code and the entry code from the BCM must be configured into the new RFA module in order for the entry codes in both the RFA module and the BCM to match. If the entry codes do not match (or the entry code in the RFA module is missing), the keyless entry keypad may not operate correctly. Refer to «HANDLES, LOCKS, LATCHES AND ENTRY SYSTEMS - WITH INTELLIGENT ACCESS»(ref-517619) . This may not occur during PMI.
