  1. CHECK THE HVAC MODULE FOR DTCs Ignition ON. Using a scan tool, perform a HVAC module self-test. Are any DTCs present? Yes For DTC B10B0:12, GO to 2 . For DTC B10B0:13, GO to 4 . For DTC B10BA:14, GO to 7 . No : GO to 7 .
  2. CHECK THE AUXILIARY BLOWER MOTOR RELAY FUNCTIONALITY Install a known good auxiliary blower motor relay. Does the auxiliary blower motor function correctly? Yes: INSTALL a new auxiliary blower motor relay. No : GO to 3 .
  3. CHECK THE AUXILIARY BLOWER MOTOR CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE Ignition OFF. Disconnect: Auxiliary Blower Motor Relay. Disconnect: HVAC module C228B. Ignition ON. Measure: BJB Ground Auxiliary Blower Motor Relay Socket Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 2 CH112 (VT/WH) - Ground Is any voltage present? Yes: REPAIR the circuit. No : GO to 16 .
  4. CHECK THE AUXILIARY BLOWER MOTOR RELAY FUNCTIONALITY Install a known good auxiliary blower motor relay. Does the auxiliary blower motor function correctly? Yes: INSTALL a new auxiliary blower motor relay. No : GO to 5 .
  5. CHECK THE AUXILIARY BLOWER MOTOR RELAY COIL SUPPLY VOLTAGE Ignition OFF. Disconnect: Auxiliary Blower Motor Relay. Ignition ON. Measure: BJB Ground Auxiliary Blower Motor Relay Socket Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 1 CBB93 (GY/BN) - Ground Is the voltage greater than 11 volts? Yes: GO to 6 . No : VERIFY BJB fuse 93 (5A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR the circuit. If not OK, REFER to the appropriate «OEM WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-514995) to identify the possible causes of the circuit short.
  6. CHECK THE AUXILIARY BLOWER MOTOR RELAY COIL CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN Ignition OFF. Disconnect: HVAC Module C228B. Measure: BJB HVAC Module Auxiliary Blower Motor Relay Socket C228B Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 2 CH112 (VT/WH) 20 CH112 (VT/WH) Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? Yes: GO to 16 . No : REPAIR the circuit.

CHECK FOR VOLTAGE AT THE AUXILIARY BLOWER MOTOR RELAY SWITCH CONTACT Disconnect: Auxiliary Blower Motor Relay Measure: BJB Ground Auxiliary Blower Motor Relay Socket Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 3 SBB39 (WH/RD) - Ground Is the voltage greater than 11 volts? Yes: GO to 9 . No : VERIFY BJB fuse 39 (40A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR the circuit. Yes: GO to 10 . No : REPAIR the circuit.

Yes: DISCONNECT the fused jumper wire. CONNECT the auxiliary blower motor relay and the auxiliary blower motor speed control. GO to 11 . No : REPAIR the circuit.
  11. CHECK FOR AUXILIARY BLOWER MOTOR FUNCTIONALITY WITH A TEST LIGHT IN PLACE OF THE AUXILIARY BLOWER MOTOR NOTE: This step uses a test light to simulate normal circuit loads. Use only the test light recommended in the «SPECIAL TOOL(S)»(ref-517581-S39794926542012121200000) table at the Climate Control information or equivalent. To avoid connector terminal damage, use the Flex Probe Kit for the test light probe connection to the vehicle. Do not use the test light probe directly on any connector. Connect: Auxiliary Blower Motor Auxiliary Blower Motor C3021 C3021 Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 2 CHA02 (BN/GN) Test Light 1 VHA19 (BN) Ignition ON. Select panel mode with the auxiliary blower motor on high. Does the test lamp illuminate? Yes: INSTALL a new auxiliary blower motor. REFER to «Auxiliary Blower Motor»(ref-517583-S39375998262012121200000) . No : GO to 12 .
  12. CHECK THE AUXILIARY BLOWER MOTOR GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN Ignition OFF. Disconnect: Auxiliary Blower Motor Speed Control. Measure: Auxiliary Blower Motor Auxiliary Blower Motor Speed Control C3021 C3002 Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 1 VHA19 (BN) 1 VHA19 (BN) Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? Yes: GO to 13 . No : REPAIR the circuit.

  16. CHECK FOR CORRECT HVAC MODULE OPERATION Ignition OFF. Disconnect and inspect all HVAC module connectors. Repair: corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins) damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary Reconnect the HVAC module connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly. Reconnect all disconnected connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present. Is the concern still present? «HEATING VENTILATION AIR CONDITIONING (HVAC) MODULE - DATC»(ref-517581-S13895863382012121200000) Yes: CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs . If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new HVAC module. REFER to «HEATING VENTILATION AIR CONDITIONING (HVAC) MODULE - EMTC»(ref-517582-S02745705852012121200000) . No : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.

Pinpoint Test

  1. CHECK THE HVAC MODULE FOR DTCs Ignition ON. Using a scan tool, perform the HVAC module self-test. Is DTC B10BA:12 present? Yes: GO to 5 . No : GO to 2 .
  2. CHECK THE AUXILIARY BLOWER MOTOR RELAY COIL SWITCH GROUND CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND Ignition OFF. Disconnect: Auxiliary Blower Motor Relay. Disconnect: HVAC Module C228B. Measure: BJB Ground Auxiliary Blower Motor Relay Socket Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 2 CH112 (VT/WH) - Ground Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? Yes: GO to 3 . No : REPAIR the circuit.
  3. CHECK THE AUXILIARY BLOWER MOTOR VOLTAGE CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE Disconnect: Auxiliary Blower Motor Speed Control. Disconnect: Auxiliary Blower Motor. Ignition ON.   6. CHECK THE AUXILIARY BLOWER MOTOR SPEED CONTROL Install a known good auxiliary blower motor speed controller. Reconnect all disconnected connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly. Ignition ON. Operate the auxiliary blower motor. Does the auxiliary blower motor function correctly? Yes: INSTALL a new auxiliary blower motor speed control. REFER to «Auxiliary Blower Motor Speed Control»(ref-517583-S40328299282012121200000) . No : GO to 7 .
  7. CHECK FOR CORRECT HVAC MODULE OPERATION Ignition OFF. Disconnect and inspect all HVAC module connectors. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.

Note. The auxiliary temperature blend door actuator connector in the pinpoint test is difficult to access. Before disconnecting the auxiliary temperature blend door actuator, visually inspect the actuator and its harness for obvious damage. If no damage is evident, proceed with the test.

Ignition ON. Measure: HVAC Module Ground C228B Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 28 CH245 (BU/BN) - Ground 27 CH244 (GY) - Ground Is any voltage present? Yes: REPAIR the circuit in question. No : GO to 4 .

Repair: corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins) damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary Reconnect the auxiliary temperature blend door actuator connector. Make sure they seat and latch correctly. Reconnect the HVAC module connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present. Is the concern still present? Yes: INSTALL a new Auxiliary Temperature Blend Door Actuator; REFER to «Auxiliary Temperature Blend Door Actuator»(ref-517583-S21325552342012121200000) . If the concern is still present, GO to 14 . No : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
  14. MODULE ACTUATOR POSITION CALIBRATION NOTE: The purpose of the module actuator position calibration is to allow the HVAC module to reinitialize and calibrate the actuator stop points. Ignition OFF. Disconnect and inspect all HVAC module connectors. Repair: corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins) damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary Reconnect the HVAC module connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly. Clear the DTCs . Using a scan tool, perform HVAC Module self-test. Select any position except OFF NOTE: The HVAC module initializes and calibrates the actuators. Calibration of the actuators will take approximately 30 seconds. Operate the system and verify the concern is still present. Is the concern still present? Yes: CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs . If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new HVAC module. For EMTC, REFER to «HEATING VENTILATION AIR CONDITIONING (HVAC) MODULE - EMTC»(ref-517582-S02745705852012121200000) or «HEATING VENTILATION AIR CONDITIONING (HVAC) MODULE - DATC»(ref-517581-S13895863382012121200000) No : The system is now operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a foreign object in the HVAC case or temporary binding that restricted actuator door travel. CHECK any actuator external linkage. If condition recurs, INSPECT actuator linkage and door for binding and CHECK HVAC case for foreign objects.

Note. The auxiliary mode door actuator connector in the pinpoint test is difficult to access. Before disconnecting the temperature blend door actuator, visually inspect the actuator and its harness for obvious damage. If no damage is evident, proceed with the test.

Measure: HVAC Module Ground C228B Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 26 CH243 (YE/GY) - Ground 25 CH242 (WH/BU) - Ground Is any voltage present? Yes: REPAIR the circuit in question. No : GO to 4 .

No : REPAIR the circuits.

Measure: HVAC Module Auxiliary Mode Door Actuator C228B C3044 Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 26 CH243 (YE/GY) 6 CH243 (YE/GY) 25 CH242 (WH/BU) 5 CH242 (WH/BU) Are the resistances less than 3 ohms? Yes: GO to 13 . No : REPAIR the circuit in question.
  6. CHECK THE AUXILIARY MODE DOOR ACTUATOR FEEDBACK CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND Ignition OFF. Disconnect: HVAC Module C228B. Disconnect: Auxiliary Mode Door Actuator. Measure: HVAC Module Ground C228B Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 8 VHA18 (YE/GY) - Ground Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? Yes: GO to 7 . No : REPAIR the circuit.

Yes: GO to 13 . No : REPAIR the circuits.

Measure: HVAC Module Ground C228B Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 8 VHA18 (YE/GY) - Ground Is any voltage present? Yes: REPAIR the circuit. No : GO to 9 .

  12. CHECK THE AUXILIARY MODE DOOR ACTUATOR RETURN CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN Measure: HVAC Module Auxiliary Mode Door Actuator C228A C3044 Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 23 RH111 (GY/BU) 1 RH111 (GY/BU) Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? Yes: GO to 13 . No : REPAIR the circuit.
  13. CHECK FOR CORRECT AUXILIARY MODE DOOR ACTUATOR OPERATION Ignition OFF. Disconnect and inspect the auxiliary mode door actuator connector. Repair: corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins) damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary Reconnect the auxiliary mode door actuator connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly. Reconnect the HVAC module connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly. Clear the DTCs . Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present. Is the concern still present? Yes: INSTALL a new Auxiliary Mode Door Actuator; REFER to «Auxiliary Mode Door Actuator»(ref-517583-S33020944552012121200000) . If the concern is still present, GO to 14 . No : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
  14. MODULE ACTUATOR POSITION CALIBRATION NOTE: The purpose of the module actuator position calibration is to allow the HVAC module to reinitialize and calibrate the actuator stop points. Ignition OFF. Disconnect and inspect all HVAC module connectors. Repair: corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins) damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary Reconnect the HVAC module connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly. Ignition ON. Clear the DTCs . Using a scan tool, perform HVAC Module self-test. Select any position except OFF. NOTE: The HVAC module initializes and calibrates the actuators. Calibration of the actuators takes approximately 30 seconds. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present. Is the concern still present? Yes: CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs . If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new HVAC module. For EMTC, REFER to «HEATING VENTILATION AIR CONDITIONING (HVAC) MODULE - EMTC»(ref-517582-S02745705852012121200000) or «HEATING VENTILATION AIR CONDITIONING (HVAC) MODULE - DATC»(ref-517581-S13895863382012121200000) . No : The system is now operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a foreign object in the HVAC case or temporary binding that restricted actuator door travel. CHECK any actuator external linkage. If condition recurs, INSPECT actuator linkage and door for binding and CHECK HVAC case for foreign objects.

If the condition returns, GO to 4 . No : REPAIR the circuit in question.
