- Remove the components in the order indicated in the following illustration and table.

Item 5: Brake Disc Removal Note
- If the brake disc binds on the parking brake shoe and lining, remove the adjustment hole access plug and contract the parking brake shoe and lining.

- Remove the wiper arms. Raise the wiper arm to the vertical position, then pull outward to release the retainer.
- Remove the cowl grille. The grille is secured with 14 spring clips. Carefully pry the grille upward to release the clips.
- Remove the instrument panel support bolt.
- Remove the front console. For additional information, refer to Section BODY SYSTEM - INTERIOR .
- Remove the four instrument panel support bracket screws.
- Remove the door scuff plates.
- Remove the retainer and the cowl panels.
- Remove the finish panels.
- Remove the caps.
- Remove the assist handles.
- Remove the moldings.
- Remove the defroster grille.
- Remove the instrument panel support bolts.
- Remove the screws and the finish panel.
- Disconnect the wiring harness connector.
- CAUTION: Do not allow the steering wheel to rotate while the steering column intermediate shaft is disconnected or damage to the clockspring can result. If there is evidence that the steering column shaft has rotated, the clockspring must be removed and recentered. For additional information, refer to Section . Secure the steering wheel to prevent it from rotating.
- Remove the bolt and separate the steering shafts.
- Remove the instrument panel support bolts.
- Pull the instrument panel approximately one inch away from the dash panel.
Removal & Installation
- Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Section «BATTERY AND CHARGING SYSTEM»(ref-194056) .
- Remove the components in the order indicated in the following illustration and table.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Bleed the brake system. For additional information, refer to «BRAKE SYSTEM BLEEDING»(ref-194031-S21523433172005092600000) .

Scheme 26: Item 10: Brake Booster Nuts Removal Note
- NOTE: Use new nuts when installing the brake booster. Remove the brake booster nuts.

- Disconnect the brake pedal to power brake booster push rod. Remove the self-locking pin. Remove the stoplight switch and the brake booster push rod from the brake pedal pin. Remove the brake booster push rod bushing.
