  1. Verify the customer concern by running the engine or by road testing the vehicle.
  2. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical or electrical damage. Refer to the following chart.
  3. Inspect the wiring and connectors of the HO2S or catalyst monitor sensors for looseness, corrosion or other damage.
  4. If the concern is not visually evident, determine the symptom and proceed to the symptom chart.

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position on a hoist.
  2. Loosen all fasteners joining the exhaust system components.
  3. Align the exhaust system.
  4. Tighten all fasteners starting from the rear of the vehicle. For additional information, refer to «SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-194051-S23335005162005092600000) .

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position on a hoist.
  2. If removing the converter assembly, remove the transmission crossmember.
  3. Remove the components in the order indicated in the following illustration and table. To remove individual components, only carry out the listed steps.
  4. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
