- Verify the customer concern by running the engine or by road testing the vehicle.
- Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical or electrical damage. Refer to the following chart.
- Inspect the wiring and connectors of the HO2S or catalyst monitor sensors for looseness, corrosion or other damage.
- If the concern is not visually evident, determine the symptom and proceed to the symptom chart.

- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position on a hoist.
- Loosen all fasteners joining the exhaust system components.
- Align the exhaust system.
- Tighten all fasteners starting from the rear of the vehicle. For additional information, refer to «SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-194051-S23335005162005092600000) .

- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position on a hoist.
- If removing the converter assembly, remove the transmission crossmember.
- Remove the components in the order indicated in the following illustration and table. To remove individual components, only carry out the listed steps.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
