  1. Put the vehicle in NEUTRAL and position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to «JACKING & LIFTING»(ref-209881) article.
  2. Remove the bolts and the skid plate (4x4 vehicles).
  3. Remove three fasteners and position the air deflector aside.
  4. Remove the auxiliary transmission fluid cooler. Using the special tool, disconnect the fluid cooler tube fittings from the fluid cooler. Remove the three bolts and the fluid cooler.

  1. Install the auxiliary transmission fluid cooler. Position the fluid cooler and install the three bolts. Connect the fluid cooler tube fittings to the fluid cooler.
  2. Position the air deflector and install the fasteners.
  3. Position the skid plate and install the bolts (4x4 vehicles).
  4. Fill the transmission with the specified type and quantity of transmission fluid. For additional information, refer to «AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION - 4R100»(ref-209910) .
  5. Fill the transmission with the specified type and quantity of transmission fluid. For additional information, refer to «AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION - 4R70W»(ref-209911) .
  6. Check for leaks.

  1. Install the fluid cooler tube(s).
  2. Install the fluid cooler tube(s).
  3. Install the fluid cooler tube(s).
  4. Install the fluid cooler tube(s).
  5. Position the air deflector and install the fasteners.
  6. Position the skid plate and install the bolts (4x4 vehicles).
  7. Fill the transmission with the specified type and quantity of transmission fluid. For additional information, refer to «AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION - 4R100»(ref-209910) .
  8. Fill the transmission with the specified type and quantity of transmission fluid. For additional information, refer to «AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION - 4R70W»(ref-209911) .
  9. Check for leaks.
  10. If equipped with air suspension, reactivate the system by turning on the air suspension switch.

  1. Put the vehicle in NEUTRAL and position on a hoist. For additional information, refer to «JACKING & LIFTING»(ref-209881) .
  2. If not done previously, carry out the transmission fluid cooler flow test procedure. For additional information, refer to «AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION - 4R100»(ref-209910) .
  3. Remove the fluid cooler tube from the front cooler line case fitting.
  4. Remove the fluid cooler tube from the rear cooler line case fitting.
  5. Remove and discard the front cooler line case fitting, and the two rubber-coated sealing washers.
  6. Remove and discard the rear cooler line case fitting, and the two rubber-coated sealing washers.
  7. Remove the cooler bypass valve (CBV) assembly from the transmission.

  1. Install the new rubber-coated sealing washers and the new cooler line case fittings. Install one rubber-coated sealing washer on each cooler line case fitting. Install both cooler line case fittings into the CBV assembly fittings. Install one rubber-coated sealing washer on each cooler line case fitting.
  2. Install the CBV assembly.
  3. Install the fluid cooler tubes in the front and rear cooler line case fittings.
  4. Fill the transmission with the specified type and quantity of transmission fluid. For additional information, refer to «AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION - 4R100»(ref-209910) .
  5. Check for leaks.
  6. If equipped with air suspension, reactivate the system by turning on the air suspension switch.
