Removal and Installation

Scheme 27
  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist, refer to «JACKING & LIFTING»(ref-569550) .
  2. Disconnect the battery ground cable, refer to «BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES»(ref-569582) .
  3. Remove the Air Cleaner (ACL), refer to «INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION & FILTERING»(ref-569599) .
  4. If equipped.
  5. Tighten to 11 Nm (97 lb-in). Tighten to 4 Nm (35 lb-in).
  6. Tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb-in). Tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb-in).
  7. Remove from above. Tighten to 35 Nm (26 lb-ft). Remove from below. Tighten to 35 Nm (26 lb-ft).
  8. NOTE: Inspect the starter drive gear and the flywheel or flexplate ring gear. Refer to «STARTER MOTOR DRIVE GEAR AND FLYWHEEL RING GEAR INSPECTION»(ref-569607-S42447160012013072700000) . To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist, refer to «JACKING & LIFTING»(ref-569550) .
  2. Disconnect the battery ground cable, refer to «BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES»(ref-569582) .
  3. If equipped.
  4. Tighten to 18 Nm (159 lb-in). Tighten to 4 Nm (35 lb-in).
  5. Tighten to 18 Nm (159 lb-in).
  6. Tighten to 35 Nm (26 lb-ft).
  7. Tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb-in). Tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb-in).
  8. NOTE: Inspect the starter drive gear and the flywheel or flexplate ring gear. Refer to «STARTER MOTOR DRIVE GEAR AND FLYWHEEL RING GEAR INSPECTION»(ref-569607-S42447160012013072700000) . To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist, refer to «JACKING & LIFTING»(ref-569550) .
  2. Disconnect the battery ground cable, refer to «BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES»(ref-569582) .
  3. If equipped.
  4. Tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb-in). Tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb-in).
  5. Tighten to 18 Nm (159 lb-in).
  6. Tighten to 35 Nm (26 lb-ft).
  7. NOTE: Inspect the starter drive gear and the flywheel or flexplate ring gear. Refer to «STARTER MOTOR DRIVE GEAR AND FLYWHEEL RING GEAR INSPECTION»(ref-569607-S42447160012013072700000) . To install, reverse the removal procedure.
