Note. Automatic transmission fluids are not interchangeable. The use of any fluid other than what is recommended for this transmission will cause transmission damage.

Note. Automatic transmission fluids are not interchangeable. The use of any fluid other than what is recommended for this transmission will cause transmission damage.

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to «JACKING & LIFTING»(ref-569550) .
  2. Drain the engine cooling system. Refer to «ENGINE COOLING»(ref-569571) .
  3. Remove the battery tray. Refer to «BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES»(ref-569582) .

Scheme 41

  1. Tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
  2. Visual check. Apply the specified lubricant to the specified component. Material: Motorcraft® MERCON® LV Automatic Transmission Fluid XT-10-QLVC. Backing ring (7J324) Seal (7D258) Tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
  3. Install the battery tray. Refer to «BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES»(ref-569582) .
  4. Fill and bleed the cooling system. Refer to «ENGINE COOLING»(ref-569571) .
  5. Fill the transmission with fluid and verify correct operation. Refer to «AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE - 6F35»(ref-569558) .

Scheme 42: Removal
  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to «JACKING & LIFTING»(ref-569550) .
  2. Remove the front bumper cover. Refer to «BUMPERS»(ref-569628) .
  3. Special Tool(s): 307-569
  4. On both sides.
  1. On both sides. Tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).
  2. Install the front bumper cover. Refer to «BUMPERS»(ref-569628) .
  3. Fill the transmission with fluid and verify correct operation. Refer to «AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE - 6F35»(ref-569558) .

Note. The use of any transmission fluid other than what is recommended for this transmission will cause transmission damage.

Scheme 43: Removal
  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to «JACKING & LIFTING»(ref-569550) .
  1. Tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
  2. Tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).
  3. Fill the transmission with fluid and verify correct operation. Refer to «AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE - 6F35»(ref-569558) .
