Removal and Installation

CAUTIONDo not remove the ignition lock cylinder and the ignition switch at the same time or damage to the column can result.

  1. Depower the supplemental restraint system (SRS). For additional information, refer to «SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM»(ref-232255) .
  2. Remove the instrument panel steering column cover.
  3. Remove the 3 lower steering column cover mounting screws.
  4. Remove the lower steering column cover.
  5. Remove the upper steering column cover.
  6. Disconnect the ignition switch electrical connector.
  7. Remove the ignition switch by pressing the 2 tabs and pulling the ignition switch outward.
  8. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Repower the supplemental restraint system (SRS). For additional information, refer to «SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM»(ref-232255) .

  1. Remove the clockspring. For additional information, refer to «SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM»(ref-232255) .
  2. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  3. Remove the 2 multifunction switch screws.
  4. Remove the multifunction switch.
  5. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  1. Remove the ignition switch. For additional information, refer to «IGNITION SWITCH»(ref-232258-S20202532202006051600000) .
  2. Cut slots into the heads of the 2 steering lock module bolts.
  3. Remove the 2 steering lock module bolts. Discard the steering lock module bolts.
  4. Remove the steering lock module clamp.
  5. Remove the steering lock module.
  6. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Align the ribs on the steering lock module with the window of the steering column tube. Align the locating pin with the slot on the locating bracket of the steering column. Tighten the steering lock module bolts until the heads of the bolts shear off.
