Steering Column Switches: Overview Ford Escape I рестайлинг

The steering column switches consist of

  1. ignition switch.
  2. multifunction switch (contains the high beam/low beam, flash-to-pass, turn signal and windshield wiper switches).

Normal Operation

The smart junction box (SJB) receives fused battery power from the battery junction box (BJB) fuse 17 (50A) circuit 16 (RD/LG) and fuse 1 (25A) circuit 37 (YE). The SJB then provides the ignition switch with fused battery power through fuse 4 (10A) circuit 1715 (RD). The ignition switch has 4 possible states

  1. OFF - No power on any circuit to the SJB.
  2. RUN/ACC - Power on circuit 297 (BK/LG) to the SJB.
  3. RUN/START - Power on circuit 306 (TN/LB) to the starter relay, and power on circuit 1050 (LG/VT) to the SJB.
  4. RUN - Power on circuits 1050 (LG/VT) and 297 (BK/LG) to the SJB.

When placed in ACC, the ignition switch provides a voltage signal to the SJB on circuit 297 (BK/LG). When placed in RUN, the ignition switch provides voltage signals to the SJB on both circuit 297 (BK/LG) and circuit 1050 (LG/VT).

When placed in START, the ignition switch provides a voltage signal to the SJB on circuit 1050 (LG/VT) and sends voltage to the starter relay through circuit 306 (TN/LB). When placed in RUN, the ignition switch provides voltage signals to the SJB on both circuit 297 (BK/LG) and circuit 1050 (LG/VT).

The ignition lock cylinder is the mechanical link to the ignition switch.
