- A1 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE AT TRANSMISSION CONTROL VALVE - TRANSMISSION FLUID CONNECTOR Disconnect: Temperature Control Valve - Transmission Fluid C1702. Ignition ON. Measure the voltage between temperature control valve - transmission fluid C1702-1, circuit CBB91 (BN), vehicle harness side and ground. Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? Yes : GO to A3 . No : GO to A2.
- A2 CHECK FUSE 91 (5A) Remove Battery Junction Box (BJB) fuse 91 (5A). Check fuse: BJB fuse 91 (5A). Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? Yes : REPAIR circuit CBB91(BN/VT-GY) for an open. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation. No : REPAIR circuit CBB91(BN/VT-GY) for a short to ground. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
- A3 CHECK THE CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND Ignition OFF. Remove Battery Junction Box (BJB) fuse 91 (5A). Disconnect: TCMC1750. Measure the resistance between temperature control valve - transmission fluid C1702-2, circuit CET45 (YE/BU), vehicle harness side and ground. Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? Yes : GO to A4. No : REPAIR circuit CET45 (YE/BU) for a short to ground. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
- A4 CHECK THE CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN Measure the resistance between temperature control valve - transmission fluid C1702-2, circuit CET45 (YE/BU) and TCM C1750-14. Measure the resistance between temperature control valve - transmission fluid C1702-2, circuit CET45 (YE/BU) and temperature control valve - transmission fluid C1702-1. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? Yes : GO to A5. No : REPAIR circuit CET45 (YE/BU) for an open. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
- A5 CHECK TEMPERATURE CONTROL VALVE SOLENOID - TRANSMISSION FLUID Measure the resistance between pin 1 and pin 2 of the temperature control valve solenoid - transmission fluid, component side. Is the resistance between 20 and 30 ohms? Yes : INSTALL a new TCM. REFER to «AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION - 6F35»(ref-494559) . CONNECT all components. TEST the system for normal operation. No : INSTALL a new temperature control valve - transmission fluid. REFER to «ENGINE COOLING»(ref-494611) . CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.

- Remove the battery tray. For additional information, refer to «BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES»(ref-494597) .
- Disconnect the TCM electrical connector.
- Disconnect the 3 battery cable pin-type retainers from the TCM bracket.
- Remove the TCM bracket nut, TCM and bracket.
- Remove and discard the rear transmission fluid cooler tube assembly bolt.
- Disconnect the rear transmission fluid cooler tube assembly from the cooler bypass valve.
- Inspect the cooler bypass valve to be sure that the transmission fluid cooler tube seals and backing rings were removed with the transmission fluid cooler tubes and are not stuck in the cooler bypass valve. If the transmission fluid cooler tube seals or backing rings are stuck in the cooler bypass valve, remove the seals and backing rings.
- Remove the rear transmission fluid cooler outlet tube bolt and disconnect the rear transmission fluid cooler outlet tube from the cooler bypass valve.
- Inspect the cooler bypass valve to be sure that the rear transmission fluid cooler outlet tube seal and backing ring were removed with the rear transmission fluid cooler outlet tube and are not stuck in the cooler bypass valve. If the transmission fluid cooler tube seal or backing ring are stuck in the transaxle case, remove the seal and backing ring.
- Remove the 2 cooler bypass valve bolts and the cooler bypass valve.
