Ignition Switch Continuity Check

Refer to the IGNITION SWITCH (11572) in the COMPONENT TESTING article.

1. If the resistances are as specified, the multifunction switch is OK. Return the multifunction switch to the vehicle. Test the system for normal operation.

If the resistances are not as specified, replace the multifunction switch. Refer to MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH .

Test the system for normal operation.

Scheme 15

1. Depower the supplemental restraint system (SRS). For additional information, refer to «AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS»(ref-170321) .
2. Remove the ignition switch lock cylinder. Insert the ignition key into the ignition switch lock cylinder and turn to the RUN position. Insert a punch through the hole in the lower steering column shroud and push the ignition switch lock cylinder release tab while pulling out the ignition switch lock cylinder.
3. If equipped, twist the tilt wheel handle and shank and remove.
4. Remove the upper and lower steering column shrouds. Remove the screws. Remove the lower steering column shroud. Remove the upper steering column shroud.
5. Remove the multifunction switch. Remove the screws. Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors. Remove the multifunction switch.
