Removal

WARNINGThe halogen bulb contains gas under pressure. The bulb may shatter if the glass envelope is scratched or if the bulb is dropped. Handle the bulb carefully. Grasp the bulb only by its base. Avoid touching the glass envelope. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.

Note. The headlamp bulb should not be removed from the headlamp until just before a replacement bulb is installed. Removing the bulb for an extended period of time may affect headlamp bulb performance. Contaminants may enter the headlamp where they can settle on the lens and reflector. Never turn on the headlamps with the bulb removed from the headlamp.

  1. Remove the headlamp. For additional information, refer to «LAMP ASSEMBLY - HEADLAMP, AERODYNAMIC»(ref-210191-S05561568902005121400000) .
  2. Remove the headlamp bulb. Rotate the headlamp bulb retainer counterclockwise one-eighth turn. Remove the headlamp bulb.

Installation

CAUTIONBulbs No. 9004 and No. 9007 look similar, but are not interchangeable.

  1. Install the headlamp bulb. Install the headlamp bulb. Rotate the headlamp bulb retainer clockwise one-eighth turn.
  2. Install the headlamp. For additional information, refer to «LAMP ASSEMBLY - HEADLAMP, AERODYNAMIC»(ref-210191-S05561568902005121400000) .

  1. Remove the headlamp door screws and remove the headlamp door.
  2. Remove the screws and remove the retaining ring.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the headlamp.
  4. To install, reverse the removal procedure. If necessary, adjust the headlamps. For additional information, refer to «HEADLAMP ADJUSTMENT»(ref-210191-S19671009012005121400000) .

  1. Pull up on the headlamp mounting clips to release the headlamp.
  2. Remove the headlamp assembly. Pull the headlamp assembly forward. Disconnect the electrical connector.

  1. Install the headlamp assembly. Connect the electrical connector. Install the headlamp assembly.
  2. Push down the two headlamp mounting clips to secure the headlamp. If necessary, adjust the headlamps. For additional information, refer to «HEADLAMP ADJUSTMENT»(ref-210191-S19671009012005121400000) .

  1. Remove the rear hi-mount lamp screws.
  2. Remove the screws retaining the lens to the interior lamp door (cargo lamp).
  3. Remove the interior lamp door (cargo lamp) screws.
  4. Remove the two bulb sockets and remove the rear hi-mount lamp assembly.
  5. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  1. Remove the rear hi-mount lamp screws.
  2. Remove the rear hi-mount lamp.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  4. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  1. Remove the parking lamp screws.
  2. Pull the parking lamp forward and disconnect the electrical connector.
  3. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  1. Remove the rear lamp screws.
  2. Pull the rear lamp forward.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  4. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  1. Disconnect the battery. For additional information, refer to «BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES»(ref-210181) .
  2. Pull headlamp knob to HEAD position.
  3. Insert a small screwdriver onto clip and pull clip and knob outward, removing headlamp knob.
  4. Remove headlamp switch bezel by turning it counterclockwise.
  5. On vehicles with tilt column, position steering wheel in full down position.
  6. On vehicles with column shift, set parking brake and position shift lever to the lowest position.
  7. Remove audio unit. For additional information, refer to «AUDIO UNIT»(ref-210184) .
  8. Remove 2 screws above instrument cluster.
  9. Remove instrument panel finish panel by pulling it straight back from instrument panel to release clips. Disconnect cigarette lighter and power point electronic connectors.
  10. Remove the headlamp switch bolts.
  11. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the headlamp switch.
  12. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  1. Disconnect the battery. For additional information, refer to «BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES»(ref-210181) .
  2. Disconnect the brake pedal position (BPP) switch electrical connector.
  3. Remove the BPP switch. Remove the self-locking pin. Remove the brake master cylinder push rod spacer. Remove the BPP switch from the brake master cylinder push rod. Remove the brake master cylinder push rod bushing. Remove the brake master cylinder push rod spacer.
  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
