Rear View Mirror: Overview Ford C-MAX II

Mirrors ~315 words

Overview - Exterior, Power

The power mirror system allows the LH and RH exterior mirror glass to be positioned electronically. Exterior mirror movement requests are generated through the exterior mirror control switch and the LH or RH selection switch determines which exterior mirror glass will be controlled. Based on the inputs from the exterior mirror control switch, the DDM and PDM supply voltage and ground to the appropriate exterior mirror motors.

Overview - Exterior, Heated

The exterior mirrors are available with heated mirror glass. The exterior mirror glass heats when the rear window defrost is active, to remove frost, snow, ice and condensation.

Overview - Interior

The interior rear view mirror has a single pivot point on the back of the mirror which allows adjustment of the mirror up or down and from side to side. The interior rear view mirror may be equipped with the optional auto-dimming function. The auto-dimming mirror electronically changes from the normal state to the non-glare (darkened) state when bright lights (glare) reach the mirror during nighttime conditions.

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

The RJB fuse 4 (25A) supplies voltage to the DDM and RJB fuse 5 (25A) supplies voltage to the PDM at all times. Each exterior mirror uses a common circuit for both up/down and right/left movement.

DTCDescriptionFault Trigger Conditions
B1302:11Mirror Motor Common: Circuit Short To GroundThis DTC is set if the DDM or PDM senses excessive current draw when voltage is applied to the mirror common circuit, when the mirror is commanded UP or LEFT.
B1302:15Mirror Motor Common: Circuit Short To Battery or OpenThis DTC is set if the DDM or PDM senses lower than expected current draw when voltage is applied to the mirror common circuit, when the mirror is commanded UP or LEFT.

DTC FAULT TRIGGER CONDITIONS

The DDM supplies voltage and ground to control the LH exterior mirror motor movement and the PDM supplies voltage and ground to control the RH exterior mirror motor movement. The DDM and PDM are capable of reversing the polarity of the voltage and ground circuits being supplied to each mirror motor to reverse the motor direction.

DTCDescriptionFault Trigger Conditions
B1C09:11Driver Left/Right Mirror Motor: Circuit Short To GroundThis DTC is set if the DDM senses excessive current draw when the LH exterior mirror glass is commanded right or left and voltage is applied to the mirror motor horizontal circuit.
B1C09:15Driver Left/Right Mirror Motor: Circuit Short To Battery or OpenThis DTC is set if the DDM senses lower than expected current draw when the LH exterior mirror glass is commanded right or left and voltage is applied to the mirror motor horizontal circuit.
B1C10:11Driver Up/Down Mirror Motor: Circuit Short To GroundThis DTC is set if the DDM senses excessive current draw when the LH exterior mirror glass is commanded up or down voltage is applied to the mirror motor vertical circuit.
B1C10:15Driver Up/Down Mirror Motor: Circuit Short To Battery or OpenThis DTC is set if the DDM senses lower than expected current draw when the LH exterior mirror glass is commanded up or down voltage is applied to the mirror motor vertical circuit.
B1C11:11Passenger Left/Right Mirror Motor: Circuit Short To GroundThis DTC is set if the PDM senses excessive current draw when the RH exterior mirror glass is commanded right or left and voltage is applied to the mirror motor horizontal circuit.
B1C11:15Passenger Left/Right Mirror Motor: Circuit Short To Battery or OpenThis DTC is set if the PDM senses lower than expected current draw when the RH exterior mirror glass is commanded right or left and voltage is applied to the mirror motor horizontal circuit.
B1C12:11Passenger Up/Down Mirror Motor: Circuit Short To GroundThis DTC is set if the PDM senses excessive current draw when the RH exterior mirror glass is commanded up or down and voltage is applied to the mirror motor vertical circuit.
B1C12:15Passenger Up/Down Mirror Motor: Circuit Short To Battery or OpenThis DTC is set if the PDM senses lower than expected current draw when the RH exterior mirror glass is commanded UP or DOWN voltage is applied to the mirror motor vertical circuit.
