REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
| WARNING | On vehicles equipped with air bag restraint system, see AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM article in the ACCESSORIES/SAFETY EQUIPMENT Section before servicing steering wheel or column. Use extreme caution to avoid personal injury and vehicle damage. |
| CAUTION | When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in the GENERAL INFORMATION Section before disconnecting battery. |
- Remove wiper blades and arms. Disconnect connector hoses from in-line connectors. (Scheme 3) Ensure in-line connectors are saved for reassembly.
- Remove rear hood seal with cowl top plastic screen and disconnect washer hose at in-line connector. Save in-line connector. Disconnect motor connector at back side of housing.
- Remove 4 wiper housing module mounting screws. Remove housing. Remove nut and disconnect wiper drive link from motor crank. Remove 3 motor mounting screws.
- Lift motor and mounting plate out of housing. Disconnect motor harness grommet from housing. For installation, reverse removal procedure. Tighten motor crank nut to 98-124 INCH lbs. (11-14 N.m). Tighten motor mounting screws to 98-106 INCH lbs (11-12 N.m).

- Remove wiper arms and blades, disconnect hoses from in-line connectors. Ensure in-line connector is retained for reassembly. Remove rear hood seal with cowl top plastic screen and disconnect washer hose at in-line connector. Save in-line connector. Using a ball joint/tie rod separator, disconnect wiper arm linkage. Separate ball cap from ball. (Scheme 4)
- To remove cap(s), place cap shoulder over a socket larger than shoulder and tap cap into socket. To replace cap use a socket larger than cap. Place linkage on socket, install cap into position over socket and tap on shoulder of the cap to lock it into position. (Scheme 5) There are 2 types of cap, one for a round ball and one for a round ball with a pin on top. (Scheme 6) For installation, reverse removal procedure.

Disable air bag. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM article in the ACCESSORIES/SAFETY EQUIPMENT Section. Tilt column up and remove 6 screws holding lower column shroud. Tilt column down and remove upper shroud. Tilt column up and remove steering column tilt lever screw at base of lever. Remove tilt lever and lower shroud. Using a screwdriver in place of lever, tilt column down. Remove 2 mounting screws on switch and remove switch. Remove wiring from hooks and disconnect 2 electrical connections on multifunction switch. Remove switch. For installation, reverse removal procedure.
Disconnect battery terminals. Remove battery and battery tray. Disconnect wire connector from reservoir pump and float sensor. Disconnect washer hose and block outlet to prevent leakage. For installation, reverse removal procedure. Tighten reservoir retaining nuts and screw to 80-124 INCH lbs. (9-14 N.m).
Remove liquid from reservoir. Remove reservoir. Refer to WINDSHIELD WASHER RESERVOIR . Gently pry pump away from reservoir and out of grommet. DO NOT puncture reservoir. Discard rubber grommet. For installation, reverse removal procedure using NEW grommet.
Raise vehicle and support with safety stands. From below, disconnect sensor wire connector. Press up on sensor lock and pull sensor from housing. There will be no fluid loss since there is no hole in housing. For installation, reverse removal procedure.
