Wiper/washer Systems 1 illustration ~178 words

DESCRIPTION & OPERATION

An intermittent wiper system is standard. At vehicle speeds greater than 10 MPH, delay mode range is 1/2-18 seconds. At vehicle speeds less than 10 MPH, delay mode doubles to 1-36 seconds. Wiper system completes wipe cycle when turned off. Delay is controlled by a variable resistor in wipe switch and two relays. One relay turns wipers ON/OFF and the other changes wiper speed. Blades park in lowest portion of wipe pattern. Intermittent wiper function is controlled by body control module located in passenger compartment behind right kick panel. (Scheme 1)

Windshield washer system is activated in OFF position of wiper control switch. Holding wash button depressed will operate wipers and washer motor continuously until washer button is released. Releasing button will stop washer pump but wipers continue to cycle 2-3 times before wipers park and module turns off. Wiper blades are different lengths and do not interchange. Driver side blade is 23 5/8"(600 mm) and passenger side blade is 21 5/8" (550 mm).
