Removal & Installation

  1. For front seat removal procedures, follow numbered steps in illustration. (Scheme 6)
  2. For front seat installation procedures, follow the numbered steps in the illustration in reverse order.
  3. Numbered steps in illustration refer to service points to observe while removing and installing front seat. Arrows pointing AWAY from each other refer to service points to be observed while performing that step of the removal procedure. Points Of Installation

  1. Steps 4 & 3: Installing Seat Mounting Nuts & Bolts After checking that the seat adjuster is locked at both sides, provisionally tighten (in A, B, C, D order) the seat installation nuts and the seat installation bolts; then fully tighten to specified torque. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-151059-S07784426142002120600000). (Scheme 7)
  2. Step 1: Installing Seat Anchor Covers Securely install the front side seat anchor forward tab to the front seat forward installation bracket. (Scheme 8) Turn the set anchor cover in the direction indicated by the arrow, and install the tab at the side part to the hole in the bracket side part. Securely install the rear side seat anchor cover (outer side) rearward tab to the front seat bracket (outer side). (Scheme 9) Turn the seat anchor cover in the direction indicated by the arrow and insert the side tabs into the holes in the front seat bracket side part.

Points Of Removal

  1. Steps 5 (Hatchback) & 7 (Sedan): Removing Dome Light Remove the dome light cover using a plastic tool. Remove the dome light mounting screws and unplug the wiring harness connector to remove the dome light.

  1. Step 5: Removing Speedometer Cable Adaptor Disconnect the speedometer cable at the transaxle end of cable. Pull speedometer cable slightly toward the vehicle interior, release the lock by turning adaptor left or right, and then remove the adaptor. (Scheme 13)

  1. Step 9: Removing Steering Lock Cylinder Insert ignition key into ignition steering lock cylinder and turn to the "ACC" position. Using a small cross tip (+) screwdriver or similar tool, push the lock pin of the cylinder inward. While pushing on the pin, pull outward the cylinder. (Scheme 15)
  2. Step 11: Steering Wheel Make mating position of steering wheel and steering wheel shaft. Remove steering wheel using a steering wheel puller. (Scheme 16)

  1. Step 7: Installation Of Slide Lever/Step 6: Spring/Step 5: Key Interlock Cable (Steering Lock Cylinder Side) With ignition key turned to the lock position or ignition steering lock cylinder removed, install the slide lever to the lock cylinder. After installing the spring to the inner cable of the key interlock cable, install the key interlock cable to the slide lever and the steering lock cylinder. (Scheme 17) NOTE: When the spring is installed to the steering lock cylinder, ensure that the spring is installed to the tube portion of the slide lever positively and the spring section does not ride over "A". (Scheme 18)
  2. Apply multi-purpose grease to mechanism. (Scheme 18) Ensure key interlock functions properly.

  1. Step 11: Removing Lower Quarter Trim Remove the lower quarter trim mounting screws and trim clip. (Scheme 23) Slowly pull the quarter trim toward you in order to undo the clips so that the lower quarter trim can be removed. (Scheme 24)
  2. Step 16: Removing Upper Quarter Trim Remove the trim clips. Using a plastic trim tool, unhook the clips and remove the upper quarter trim. (Scheme 25)
  3. Step 17: Removing Front Pillar Trim Using a plastic trim tool, unhook the clips and remove the front pillar trim. (Scheme 26)
  4. Step 18: Removing Front Belt Rail Trim Remove the front belt rail trim by pulling it down by hand. (Scheme 27)

  1. Step 10: Installing Parcel Box Install the parcel box so that the arrow on the bottom of the box is positioned toward the interior of the compartment. (Scheme 28)

  1. Step 6: Removing Rear Wheel Arch Trim Using a plastic trim tool, unhook clips at the indicated locations and remove the rear wheel arch trim.
  2. Step 8: Removing Rear Pillar Trim Using a plastic trim tool, unhook clips at the indicated locations and remove the rear pillar trim. (Scheme 30)
  3. Step 10: Removing Center Pillar Upper Trim Using a plastic trim tool, unhook clips at the indicated locations and remove the center pillar trim. (Scheme 31)
  4. Step 11: Removing Roof Side Trim Using a plastic trim tool, unhook clips at the indicated locations and remove the roof side trim. (Scheme 32)
  5. Step 12: Removing Front Pillar Trim Using a plastic trim tool, unhook clips at the indicated locations and remove the front pillar trim. (Scheme 33)
  6. Step 13: Removing Front Belt Rail Trim Remove front belt rail trim by pulling down on it by hand. (Scheme 34)
