ENGINE LUBRICATION SYSTEM
System is a full-flow, filtered, pressure-fed type oil system. Oil pump is mounted in front engine cover and is driven by crankshaft. Pressurized oil is routed through main oil gallery, running length of the cylinder block, supplying main and rod bearings through secondary passages. Pistons are lubricated from slots in connecting rod assemblies and from rod bearing throw off. Camshaft and valve mechanisms are lubricated from a full length oil gallery supplied via crankcase main gallery. Balance shafts are supplied oil from No. 1 main bearing cap through carrier support to front balance shaft bearings. Internal shaft passages lubricate the rear balance shaft bearings.
