Note. DTC P0460: FUEL LEVEL UNIT NO CHANGE OVER MILES is monitored with engine running and fuel level is less than 15 percent or more than 85 percent capacity. DTC may be stored in Powertrain Control Module (PCM) when PCM senses low fuel for more than 120 miles, or high fuel level that does not change by at least 10 percent for more than 100 miles. Possible causes are: defective fuel level sensor, defective connectors or defective wiring.
- Turn ignition on, with engine off. Using scan tool, read and record FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT voltage. If voltage is 7.0-9.4 volts, go to step 4). If voltage is not 7.0-9.4 volts, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Visually inspect related connectors and wiring harness for damage. Repair connectors and wiring harness as necessary. Perform TEST VER-2A. If connectors and wiring harness are okay, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Add 5 gallons of fuel to fuel tank. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Using scan tool, read FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT voltage. If voltage decreased at least .2 volt, test is complete. If voltage did not decrease at least .2 volt, replace fuel level sensor. Fuel level sensor is located in fuel pump module, in fuel tank. Perform TEST VER-2A.
- Turn ignition off. Visually inspect related connectors and wiring harness for damage. Repair connectors and wiring harness as necessary. Perform TEST VER-2A. If connectors and wiring harness are okay, go to next step.
- Ensure ignition is off. Remove at least 5 gallons of fuel from fuel tank. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Using scan tool, read FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT voltage. If voltage increased at least .2 volt, test is complete. If voltage did not increase at least .2 volt, replace fuel level sensor. Fuel level sensor is located in fuel pump module, in fuel tank. Perform TEST VER-2A.
