The 5-pin, 12-volt, Automatic Shutdown (ASD) relay (1) is located in the Power Distribution Center (PDC). Always refer to the label on the power distribution center cover for relay location.

REMOVAL

The Automatic Shutdown (ASD) relay is located in the engine compartment within the Power Distribution Center (PDC). Always refer to the label on the power distribution center cover for relay location.

  1. Remove the power distribution center cover.
  2. Remove the relay from the power distribution center.
  3. Check the condition of the relay terminals and power distribution center connector terminals for damage or corrosion. Repair if necessary before installing the relay.
  4. Check for pin height (pin height should be the same for all terminals within the power distribution center connector). Repair if necessary before installing the relay.

The Automatic Shutdown (ASD) relay is located in the engine compartment within the Power Distribution Center (PDC). Always refer to the label on the power distribution center cover for relay location.

  1. Install the relay to the power distribution center.
  2. Install the cover to the power distribution center.

Scheme 33: DESCRIPTION

The Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor is a Hall effect type sensor and is used by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) in conjunction with the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor to recognize the position of the cylinders and determine the injection and ignition point.

Scheme 34

Scheme 34

There are two Camshaft Position Sensors on the 2.0L (ECK) engine. The (1/1) Exhaust Camshaft Position Sensor (2) is mounted to the front face of the cylinder head on the same side as the exhaust camshaft. The (1/2) Intake Camshaft Position Sensor (1) is mounted to the rear face of the cylinder head on the same side as the intake camshaft. Both sensors are located nearest the number four cylinder end of the engine. Both sensor connectors have three wires.

  1. Thoroughly clean the knock sensor mounting hole. CAUTION: Over or under tightening the knock sensor mounting bolt will affect knock sensor performance, possibly causing improper spark control. Always use the specified torque when installing the knock sensor. Do not apply any adhesive, sealant or thread locking compound to the bolt.
  2. Install the knock sensor with mounting bolt (1). Tighten the mounting bolt to 25 N.m (18 ft. lbs.).
  3. Connect the electrical connector.
  4. Install the Intake manifold. Refer to «MANIFOLD, INTAKE, INSTALLATION, 2.0L»(ref-646216-S41091619692014072800000) or «MANIFOLD, INTAKE, INSTALLATION, 2.4L»(ref-646217-S42702145492014072800000) .
  5. Lower the vehicle.
  6. Connect the negative battery cable and tighten nut to 5 N.m (45 in. lbs.).

Variable valve timing solenoid assembly. The solenoid receives pulse width modulation signal and the current is controlled within 0 ma to 1000 ma. The spool position is controllable at any position to control supply of oil between the advance and retard ports.

  1. Install the Ignition Node Module into the Instrument Panel from the backside.
  2. Pull the Ignition Node Module into place.
  3. Install 4 screws through the instrument Panel into the Ignition Node Module and tighten.
  4. Connect Electrical harness connector into Ignition Node Module.
  5. Install the Instrument Panel bezel and connect wire harness connectors. Refer to «BEZEL, INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, INSTALLATION»(ref-646233-S02992968052014072800000) .
  6. Install the HVAC control head and connect wire harness connectors. Refer to «CONTROL, A/C AND HEATER, INSTALLATION»(ref-646220-S23195759552014072800000) .
  7. Install the steering column opening cover and connect the wire harness connectors.
  8. Install dash end cap. Refer to «CAP, INSTRUMENT PANEL END, INSTALLATION»(ref-646233-S34532797992014072800000) .
