INTAKE

CAUTIONInstall camshaft position (CMP) sensor utilizing twisting motion. Make sure CMP sensor is fully seated. Do not drive CMP sensor into the bore with mounting screw. This may cause CMP sensor to be incorrectly seated causing a faulty signal or no signal at all.
  1. Lubricate sensor O-ring. NOTE: View typical
  2. Install camshaft sensor (3) and mounting bolt (2) and tighten to 9 N.m (79.5 in. lbs.).
  3. Connect electrical connector (1) to camshaft position sensor.
  4. Install the air cleaner to throttle body hose, connect the inlet air temperature sensor electrical connector.
  5. Install the negative battery cable.

EXHAUST

CAUTIONInstall camshaft position (CMP) sensor utilizing twisting motion. Make sure CMP sensor is fully seated. Do not drive CMP sensor into the bore with mounting screw. This may cause CMP sensor to be incorrectly seated causing a faulty signal or no signal at all.
  1. Lubricate sensor O-ring.
  2. Install the exhaust cam sensor (3) and mounting bolt (2) and tighten to the proper specification. Refer to «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-646264-S22887176422014072800000) .
  3. Connect electrical connector (1) to the camshaft position sensor.
  4. Connect negative battery cable. Tighten the nut to the proper specification. Refer to «SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-646227-S37074325252014072800000) .

INTAKE SOLENOID

  1. Install the intake VVT solenoid (2) and the mounting bolt into the cylinder head and tighten to 12 N.m (9 ft. lbs.).
  2. Connect the wire harness connector (3).
  3. Install the intake manifold. Refer to «MANIFOLD, INTAKE, INSTALLATION, 2.0L»(ref-646216-S41091619692014072800000) or «MANIFOLD, INTAKE, INSTALLATION, 2.4L»(ref-646217-S42702145492014072800000) .

EXHAUST SOLENOID

  1. Install the VVT solenoid (1) and mounting bolt into the cylinder head and tighten to 12 N.m (9 ft. lbs.).
  2. Connect wire harness connector.
  3. Install the air cleaner. Refer to «AIR CLEANER, INSTALLATION, 2.0L»(ref-646216-S41193092632014072800000) or «AIR CLEANER, INSTALLATION, 2.4L»(ref-646217-S03307573772014072800000) .
  4. Install the engine resonator and connect the air intake temperature sensor. Refer to «RESONATOR, AIR CLEANER, INSTALLATION, 2.0L»(ref-646216-S21595726612014072800000) or «RESONATOR, AIR CLEANER, INSTALLATION, 2.4L»(ref-646217-S37132917522014072800000) .
  5. Connect negative battery cable.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connectors from ignition coils.
  3. Remove the ignition coil mounting bolt.
  4. Twist the ignition coil then pull straight up. NOTE: Prior to loosening the spark plug, use compressed air to blow out any debris that might be in the spark plug tube.
  5. Remove the spark plug using a quality socket with a rubber or foam insert.
  6. Inspect the spark plug condition.

2.0/2.4L

CAUTIONHandle the spark plugs with care. Do not drop or force the spark plugs into the wells, damage to the electrodes and/or porcelain body may occur. Always start each spark plug by hand in order to avoid cross-threading the spark plug in the cylinder head. Always tighten spark plugs to the specified torque. Too much or not enough torque will cause damage to the cylinder head and/or spark plug and may lead to poor engine performance.

Note. Typical

  1. Install each spark plug to the cylinder head. Tighten spark plugs to 27 N.m (20 ft. lbs.).
  2. Install ignition coil onto spark plug.
  3. Install ignition coil mounting bolt. Tighten to 9 N.m (79.5 in. lbs.).
  4. Connect ignition coil electrical connectors.
  5. Connect the negative battery cable.
