* Do not apply any sealant, thread-locker or adhesive to bolts. Poor sensor performance may result.

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the engine cover (1).
  3. Remove the air cleaner body (6). Refer to «BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL»(ref-646215-S35238296702014072800000) .
  4. Disconnect the PCV hose (1) from the intake manifold.
  5. Disconnect the vent hose (3) from the oil filler neck.
  6. Remove the three bolts (2) and remove the oil separator housing (4) from the cylinder head cover. NOTE: Number 1 cylinder ignition coil shown in illustration, all others similar.
  7. Unlock and disconnect the electrical connector (2) from the ignition coil.
  8. Remove the ignition coil mounting bolt (3).
  9. Pull the ignition coil (1) from cylinder head cover opening with a slight twisting action.

Scheme 5: INSTALLATION
  1. Using compressed air, blow out any dirt or contaminants from around the top of spark plug.
  2. The ignition coil seal (1) can be reused if not damaged.
  3. Check the condition of the ignition coil rubber boot (2). To aid in ignition coil installation, apply a silicone based grease such as Mopar® Dielectric Grease # J8126688 into the spark plug end of the rubber boot (3). NOTE: Number 1 cylinder ignition coil shown in illustration, all others similar.
  4. Position the ignition coil (1) into the cylinder head cover opening. Using a twisting action, push the ignition coil onto the spark plug.
  5. Install the ignition coil mounting bolt (3) and tighten to 9 N.m (80 in. lbs).
  6. Connect and lock the electrical connector (2) to the ignition coil (1).
  7. Install the oil separator housing (4) to the cylinder head cover with three bolts (2) tightened to 13 N.m (115 in. lbs.).
  8. Connect the vent hose (3) to the oil filler neck.
  9. Connect the PCV hose (1) to the intake manifold.
  10. Install the air cleaner body (6). Refer to «BODY, AIR CLEANER, INSTALLATION»(ref-646215-S04758408592014072800000) .
  11. Install the engine cover (1).
  12. Connect the negative battery cable and tighten nut to 5 N.m (45 in. lbs.).

Scheme 6: DESCRIPTION

The 5-pin, 12-volt, Automatic Shutdown (ASD) relay (1) is located in the Power Distribution Center (PDC). Always refer to the label on the power distribution center cover for relay location.
