DIAGNOSTIC TEST

  1. CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC Turn the ignition on. Press the Heated Steering Wheel Switch three times. With the scan tool, read DTCs. Does the scan tool display this DTC as active? Yes Go To 2 . No Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals, and correct pin tension.
  2. CHECK FOR AN INTERNALLY SHORTED SWITCH BANK Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the Switch Bank harness connector. Turn the ignition on. With the scan tool, read DTCs. Does the scan tool display DTC: B10C4-HEATED STEERING WHEEL CONTROL CIRCUIT as active? Yes Go To 3 . No Replace the Switch Bank in accordance with the Service Information. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «BODY VERIFICATION TEST»(ref-489354-S01583902142012072600000) .
  3. (C93) HEATED STEERING WHEEL CONTROL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the Cluster C1 harness connector. Measure the resistance between ground and the (C93) Heated Steering Wheel Control circuit at the Switch Bank harness connector. Is the resistance below 10K Ohms? Yes Repair the short to ground on the (C93) Heated Steering Wheel Control circuit. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «BODY VERIFICATION TEST»(ref-489354-S01583902142012072600000) . No Replace the Cluster in accordance with the Service Information. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «BODY VERIFICATION TEST»(ref-489354-S01583902142012072600000) .

  2. CHECK FOR AN INTERNALLY SHORTED SWITCH BANK Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the Switch Bank harness connector. Turn the ignition on. With the scan tool, read DTCs. Does the scan tool display DTC: B10C6-HEATED STEERING WHEEL CONTROL CIRCUIT HIGH as active? Yes Go To 3 . No Replace the Switch Bank in accordance with the Service Information. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «BODY VERIFICATION TEST»(ref-489354-S01583902142012072600000) .
  3. (C93) HEATED STEERING WHEEL CONTROL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO VOLTAGE Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the Cluster C1 harness connector. Turn the ignition on. Measure the voltage of the (C93) Heated Steering Wheel Control circuit at the Switch Bank harness connector. Is voltage present? Yes Repair the short to voltage on the (C93) Heated Steering Wheel Control circuit. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «BODY VERIFICATION TEST»(ref-489354-S01583902142012072600000) . No Replace the Cluster in accordance with the Service Information. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «BODY VERIFICATION TEST»(ref-489354-S01583902142012072600000) .
  1. CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC Turn the ignition on. With the scan tool, read DTCs. Does the scan tool display this DTC as active? Yes Go To 2 .   2. CHECK VOLTAGE AT THE SWITCH BANK HARNESS CONNECTOR Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the Switch Bank harness connector. Turn the ignition on. Measure the voltage of the (C93) Heated Steering Wheel Control circuit at the Switch Bank harness connector. Is the voltage above 10.0 volts? Yes Replace the Switch Bank in accordance with the Service Information. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «BODY VERIFICATION TEST»(ref-489354-S01583902142012072600000) . No Go To 3 .
  3. (C93) HEATED STEERING WHEEL CONTROL CIRCUIT OPEN Turn the ignition off. Disconnect the Cluster C1 harness connector. Measure the resistance of the (C93) Heated Steering Wheel Control circuit between the Cluster C1 and Switch Bank harness connectors. Is the resistance above 5.0 Ohms? Yes Repair the open in the (C93) Heated Steering Wheel Control circuit. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «BODY VERIFICATION TEST»(ref-489354-S01583902142012072600000) . No Replace the Cluster in accordance with the Service Information. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «BODY VERIFICATION TEST»(ref-489354-S01583902142012072600000) .
  1. CHECK FOR ACTIVE DTC NOTE: The Cluster performs internal tests on the Airbag Lamp during each ignition cycle. With the scan tool, erase DTCs. Turn the ignition off, wait 10 seconds, then turn the ignition on. Wait for the Cluster to perform the bulb check. With the scan tool, read DTCs. Is the DTC active? Yes Replace and program the Cluster in accordance with the Service Information. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «BODY VERIFICATION TEST»(ref-489354-S01583902142012072600000) . No Test complete.
  1. CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC NOTE: The Cluster performs internal tests on the Airbag Lamp during each ignition cycle. With the scan tool, erase DTCs. Turn the ignition off, wait 10 seconds, then turn the ignition on. Wait for the Cluster to perform the bulb check. With the scan tool, read DTCs. Is the DTC active? Yes Replace and program the Cluster in accordance with the Service Information. Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to «BODY VERIFICATION TEST»(ref-489354-S01583902142012072600000) . No Go To 4 .
