The Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) system allows for locking and unlocking of the vehicle doors by remote control, using a hand-held radio transmitter. Additionally on FWD vans, the RKE system activates the pre-programmed power driver's seat and power side mirrors (if equipped).
The RKE module may receive signals from 4 transmitters (only 2 transmitters can be programmed to activate power seat and mirror). Each transmitter has its own code which is stored in RKE module memory. If the transmitter is replaced, code has to be programmed into memory. The receiver (RKE module) is capable of retaining memory even when power is removed. The hand-held transmitter will operate within approximately 23 feet of receiver. The transmitter has 2 replaceable 3-volt batteries.

OPERATION
The transmitter on FWD vans has 3 buttons for operation: LOCK, UNLOCK and PANIC button. The transmitter on RWD vans has LOCK and UNLOCK buttons only. The UNLOCK button will unlock the driver's door and light the illuminated entry system. On models with anti-theft alarm system, it will also deactivate anti-theft system. Pushing and releasing the button once will unlock the driver's door. Pushing the button twice within 5 seconds will unlock all doors.
The LOCK button will lock all doors and activate theft security system (if equipped). When pressed, horn will sound a short chirp to signify that the signal was received and doors are locked. Panic button on remote control will activate vehicle anti-theft system for approximately 3 minutes when pressed. Alarm can be terminated if PANIC button on remote control is pressed or ignition is turned on.
