Auxiliary Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Control Module Programming and Setup
Each of the following service procedures may require programming or setup procedures to be performed on the HVAC control module or HVAC actuators.
Auxiliary HVAC Control Module Reprogramming
The Auxiliary HVAC Control Module does not require any programming when it is replaced.
Programming the BCM
| IMPORTANT | The vehicle will not start and many other functions may not operate properly if a replacement BCM is not properly set up. The following procedures must be completed |
| IMPORTANT | After the procedure is completed, the personalization settings of the BCM are set to default settings. Inform the customer that the personalization must be set again. |
- Programming the BCM-From the Main Menu, select Service Programming System, then follow the instructions on the screen. Refer to «Service Programming System (SPS)»(ref-365276-S39770071862010070600000) for more information.
- BPP Sensor calibration-Refer to «Brake Pedal Position Sensor Calibration»(ref-365239-S15983671562010070600000) .
- Learning the restraints ID-Navigate on the Tech 2 to Vehicle Control Systems > Module Setup > Body Control Module > Setup SDM Primary Key in BCM, then follow the instructions on the screen.
| IMPORTANT | After any programming or setup, perform the following to avoid future misdiagnosis |
- Turn the ignition OFF for 10 seconds.
- Connect the scan tool to the data link connector.
- Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF.
- Use the scan tool in order to retrieve history DTCs from all modules.
- Clear all history DTCs.
Communication Interface Module Programming and Setup
Each of the following service procedures require programming or setup procedures to be performed on the communication interface module.
TCM Reprogramming
- If the TCM needs to be reprogrammed, refer to «Service Programming System (SPS)»(ref-365276-S39770071862010070600000) .
- Perform the Service Fast Learn Adapts - Refer to «Service Fast Learn Adapts»(ref-365302-S38765295842010070600000) .
- Turn the ignition OFF for 30 seconds.
- Turn the ignition ON with the engine OFF.
- Use the scan tool in order to retrieve history DTCs from all modules.
- Clear all history DTCs.
Digital Radio Receiver Programming and Setup
Each of the following service procedures requires programming or setup procedures to be performed on the digital radio receiver.
XM™ Activation
| IMPORTANT | After replacement of an XM™ receiver, call XM™ radio to deactivate the receiver that has been removed from the vehicle. The vehicle must be parked in view of a satellite within 24 hours after an activation call. |
- Radio ON, tune to the XM™ channel 0 and record the radio ID. The radio ID will be required for activation of the new receiver.
- Call XM™ radio to deactivate the faulty receiver and activate the new receiver. US: 1-800-556-3600 Canada: 1-877-438-9677
- Park the vehicle outside in an area with an unobstructed view of the southern sky.
- Leave the vehicle outside with the ignition switch in the ACC position and the radio ON, tune to the XM™ channel 1 for 30 minutes to activate XM™ service.
- Once activated, the radio will receive the remaining XM™ channels.
Door Control Module Programming and Setup
After replacing the driver door module (DDM) or passenger door module (PDM), perform the programming procedure. Refer to Service Programming System (SPS) .
Electronic Compass Module Programming and Setup
The electronic compass module requires a calibration after the module is replaced, repaired, or as required for proper module operation. Refer to Compass Calibration and Magnetic Variance (Mirror) or Compass Calibration and Magnetic Variance (DIC) .
Engine Control Module Programming and Setup (V6)
The following service procedures require either a programming or a setup event performed for a complete repair.
Fuel Pump Flow Control Module Programming and Setup
If the fuel pump control module (FPCM) is replaced, it must be programmed. Refer to Service Programming System (SPS) .
Garage Door Opener Programming and Setup
The garage door opener (GDO) programming and setup procedures must be performed after replacement. Refer to Garage Door Opener Programming - Universal .
HVAC System Control Module Programming and Setup
Each of the following service procedures may require programming or setup procedures to be performed on the HVAC control module or HVAC actuators.
HVAC Control Module Reprogramming
Do not reprogram the HVAC control module, unless directed by a service procedure, or a service bulletin.
Reprogram HVAC Control Module-Refer to Service Programming System (SPS) .
Inflatable Restraint Vehicle Rollover Sensor Programming and Setup
- Key ON, Engine OFF. With the scan tool perform the Setup New ROS procedure for the inflatable restraint vehicle rollover sensor (ROS).
- Key OFF then ON again. Clear all codes and verify no current faults are present.
Instrument Cluster Head Up Display Programming and Setup
This device requires no programming or setup.
Instrument Cluster Programming and Setup
The instrument panel cluster (IPC) must be setup using the service programming system (SPS). Refer to Service Programming System (SPS) .
Liftgate Control Module Programming and Setup
If the liftgate module is replaced, the following procedures must be performed
- Liftgate Module Programming-Refer to «Service Programming System (SPS)»(ref-365276-S39770071862010070600000) .
- Liftgate Calibration-Refer to «Liftgate Calibration»(ref-365254-S38674122522010070600000) .
Memory Seat Control Module Programming and Setup
If the memory seat module is replaced or if the module needs to be reprogrammed, refer to Service Programming System (SPS) .
Object Alarm Module Programming and Setup
If the object alarm module is replaced it must be programmed. Refer to Service Programming System (SPS) .
Radio Programming and Setup
Each of the following service procedures require programming or setup procedures to be performed on the radio.
Rear Differential Clutch Control Module Programming and Setup
If the Rear Differential Clutch Control Module is replaced, the following procedures must be performed
- Rear Differential Clutch Control Module Programming-Refer to «Service Programming System (SPS)»(ref-365276-S39770071862010070600000) .
- Install a scan tool.
- Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
- Select Special Functions, Rear Drive System, CCM RDS Matching ID, follow instruction on the Tech 2. The CCM RDS Matching ID number can be found on the CCM harness connector.
- Cycle the ignition OFF, then start the engine and allow to run for 1 minute. Verify the rear differential system is functioning properly.
- After the calibration procedure, clear all DTC, and preform the «Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle»(ref-365273-S03182733772010070600000) .
Rearview Camera Image Display Module Programming and Setup
This device requires no programming or setup.
Remote Control Door Lock Receiver Programming and Setup
| IMPORTANT | When replacing the remote control door lock receiver (RCDLR), the tire pressure monitoring (TPM) information can be learned to the new RCDLR in one of two ways. These two methods are reflected in the selections below. Only choose one of the methods; it is not required to do both methods when replacing the RCDLR. If you choose to perform the Copy and Paste TPM Information procedure, Step 1 must be performed BEFORE removing the old RCDLR. This procedure requires that specific TPM information be extracted from the old RCDLR prior to its removal. |
Sunroof Control Module Programming and Setup
When replacing the sunroof motor/control module, the sunroof motor/actuator initialization/teach procedure must be followed. Refer to Sunroof Motor/Actuator Initialization/Teach Process (New Motor) or Sunroof Motor/Actuator Initialization/Teach Process (New Roller Sunshade) or Sunroof Motor/Actuator Initialization/Teach Process (Existing Motor) or Sunroof Motor/Actuator Initialization/Teach Process (Existing Roller Sunshade) before starting the repair procedure.
Theft Deterrent Module Programming and Setup
- Connect a scan tool to the vehicle in the Pass-thru arrangement.
- Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
- Ensure that all power consuming devices are turned OFF on the vehicle.
- On the Techline Terminal, select Service Programming System and follow the Techline Terminal on-screen instructions, using the Legacy Pass-Thru method. Ensure the correct programming selection is chosen based on component being replaced or programmed. For this procedure, go to the TDM - Theft Deterrent Module menu and select the proper on-screen options.
- After the programming has completed, turn the ignition OFF for 30 seconds.
- Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF.
- On the Techline Terminal, select Service Programming System and follow the Techline Terminal on-screen instructions, using the Legacy Pass-Thru method. Ensure the correct programming selection is chosen based on component being replaced or programmed. For this procedure, go to the V.T.D. Vehicle Theft Deterrent Learn menu and choose the Vehicle Theft Deterrent Learn, ECM, or PK3 Replaced selection.
- At this point the scan tool must remain connected for the duration of the 10-minute relearn procedure.
- Observe the scan tool, after approximately 10 minutes the scan tool will display "Programming Successful, Turn OFF Ignition". The vehicle is now ready to relearn the key information and/or the passwords on the next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK.
- Turn OFF the ignition and wait 2 minutes.
- With a master vehicle key, turn the ignition to the RUN position for 15 seconds, then start the vehicle. The TDM and ECM have now relearned the pre-release password and the challenge/response data.
- With a scan tool, clear any DTCs.
Transmission Control Module Programming and Setup (6T30/6T40/6T45)
- The transmission control module (TCM) must be programmed with the proper software/calibrations. Ensure that the following conditions exist in order to prepare for TCM programming: The battery is fully charged. The ignition switch is in the RUN position. The Techline equipment cable connection at the data link connector (DLC) is secure.
- Program the TCM using the latest software matching the vehicle. Refer to up-to-date Techline equipment user instructions.
- If the TCM fails to program, proceed as follows: Ensure that the TCM connection is OK. Inspect the Techline equipment for the latest software version. Attempt to program the TCM. If the TCM still cannot be programmed properly, replace the TCM.
Transmission Control Module Programming and Setup (6T70)
The following service procedures require either a programming or a setup event performed for a complete repair.
If the TCM is reprogrammed, TCM Reprogramming must be performed. Refer to Neutral - Engine Running .
Ensure the following conditions exist in order to prepare for TCM programming or reprogramming
- The battery is fully charged.
- The ignition switch is in the RUN position.
- The Techline equipment cable connection at the data link connector (DLC) is secure.
Program the TCM using the latest software matching the vehicle. Refer to up-to-date Techline equipment user instructions.
If the TCM fails to program, proceed as follows
- Ensure the TCM connection is good.
- Inspect the Techline equipment for the latest software version.
- Attempt to program the TCM. If the TCM still cannot be programmed properly, replace the TCM.
After successful TCM reprogramming, reset the transmission adapts and perform the Transmission Adaptive Learn Procedure. Refer to Transmission Adaptive Functions .
Window Regulator Motor Programming
Only window regulator motors that are LIN controlled require programming. If battery power is lost, only Express Programming After Power Loss is required. If the window regulator motor is replaced, perform the Express Programming After Motor Replacement procedure before performing the Express Programming After Power Loss.
Programming Procedure
- Install a scan tool.
- Navigate to the Body menu item.
- Select the appropriate (Driver or Passenger) Door Switch menu item.
- Select Special Functions.
- Select Power Window Motor Programming and follow the directions displayed on the screen.
- When the window motor programming procedure has been successfully completed, remove the PWR WNDW circuit breaker from the I/P fuse block for at least 30 seconds.
- Install the PWR WNDW circuit breaker.
- Press and hold the power window switch until the window is fully DOWN.
- Continue holding the power window switch for approximately 3 seconds.
- Press and hold the power window switch until the window is fully UP.
- Continue holding the power window switch for approximately 3 seconds.
- The power window regulator motor is now programmed for the express function.
Express Programming After Power Loss
If the battery has been disconnected, recharged or replaced, it will be necessary to reprogram each power window for the express-up feature.
To program each front window, follow these steps
- With the ignition in ACCESSORY, RUN, or in the retained accessory power (RAP) mode.
- Close all doors.
- Press and hold the power window switch until the window is fully open and continue holding the switch up for approximately two seconds after the window is completely open.
- Pull the power window switch up until the window is fully closed and continue holding the switch up for approximately 2 seconds after the window is completely closed.
The window is now reprogrammed. Repeat the process for the remaining windows.
