Body Control Modules: Overview Chevrolet Tracker II

DESCRIPTION & OPERATION

WARNINGVehicles are equipped with air bag supplemental restraint system. Before attempting any repairs involving steering column, instrument panel or related components, see SERVICE PRECAUTIONS and DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article.

Vehicle is not equipped with a Body Control Module (BCM). Vehicle uses a data link communication system that allows access to each module individually. Modules that are connected to data link communication system are Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM), Powertrain Control Module (PCM), Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) and Remote Control Door Lock Receiver (RCDLR). If any module detects a short to either voltage or ground that lasts for more than 3 seconds, it stores one of 2 DTCs. DTC U1300 for a short to ground, and DTC U1301 for a short to voltage.

Description

Serial data link is a communication line between Data Link Connector (DLC) and Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM). When EBCM detects low voltage for more than about 3 seconds, DTC sets. DTCs C1212 and U1300 will only set as history code in EBCM.
