Refilling & Bleeding Procedure
- Close radiator drain cock.
- Fill system through the surge tank opening.
- Pre-mix a 50 to 60 percent solution of DEX-COOL® and clean, drinkable water.
- Slowly add the pre-mixed solution to the surge tank until the level is slightly above the COLD FILL mark.
- Start and operate engine at idle for one minute.
- Loosely install surge tank cap. DO NOT allow system to build up pressure.
- Cycle engine from idle to 3000 RPM in 30-second intervals until engine coolant temperature reaches 210°F (99°C) and the thermostat opens.
- Turn off engine.
- Remove surge tank fill cap. To remove, slowly rotate the cap counterclockwise. Stop rotating and allow hissing to stop. After all hissing stops, continue turning counterclockwise in order to remove the fill cap.
- Start and operate engine for one minute. Fill the surge tank to 1/2" (12.7 mm) above the COLD FILL mark on the surge tank.
- Install radiator surge tank cap.
- Cycle engine from idle to 3000 RPM in 30-second intervals until engine coolant temperature reaches 210°F (99°C) and thermostat opens.
- Turn off engine.
- Top off coolant, as necessary, to 1/2" (12.7 mm) above the COLD FILL mark on the surge tank.
- Rinse away any excess coolant from engine and engine compartment. Inspect coolant concentration.
